As the December 7th general election approaches, Sammy Gyamfi Esq., the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a passionate call to Ghanaians to vote for change.
Sammy Gyamfi has blamed the Akufo Addo-Bawumia Government for the dire economic conditions and advocated for the leadership of John Dramani Mahama as the solution to Ghana’s challenges.
According to him, this election is not just another democratic exercise but a defining moment for the nation. He emphasized;
“An election that will shape the future and destiny of our country. The future and destiny of our children. And their children’s children.”

He urged Ghanaians to seize this “golden opportunity” to vote wisely and bring about the transformation the nation has been yearning for over the last eight years.
Sammy Gyamfi reserved sharp criticism for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing it of mismanagement.
He highlighted the severe economic difficulties Ghanaians face, including skyrocketing inflation, a depreciating cedi, and a general rise in the cost of living.
“Today, people are buying a ball of kenkey in Ghana at 3 Ghana cedis, 5 Ghana cedis, at some places, 7 Ghana cedis. Today, drivers are struggling to buy a gallon of petrol and diesel at almost 65 Ghana cedis.”

Sammy Gyamfi also lamented the sharp decline of the cedi, comparing the exchange rate under the previous NDC administration to the current situation. He lamented;
“In 2016, I needed just about 6,500 to get 1,000,000 CFA. Today, you need more than 25,000 Ghana cedis, almost 30,000 cedis to buy 1,000,000 CFA.
If you have inflation increased from 15.4% as of December 2016 when we were leaving office to a staggering 54% as of December 2022.”

He highlighted that Ghana’s inflation situation soaring to 22.1% inflation is extremely high and unthinkable.
Sammy Gyamfi stressed that the unprecedented rise in prices has had a devastating impact on businesses and the livelihoods of ordinary Ghanaians.
“The man who used to buy a gallon of diesel at 14 cedis in 2016 is today buying it at 65 Ghana cedis. This is not a mere increase; it is a significant astronomical jump.”

Broken Promises and Policy Failures
Sammy Gyamfi accused the NPP of failing to deliver on its promises, particularly its pledge to move Ghana from “taxation to production.“
He argued that the government has burdened citizens with excessive taxes while neglecting economic production. He charged;
“For the first time in the history of Ghana, you are having an incumbent regime campaigning against its own policies and pretending to be in opposition in government.”
.. Promising the citizenry that ‘vote for us, and we will come and change our own policies,’ when they have the power to do that now.”
Sammy Gyamfi Esq. National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Sammy Gyamfi described John Dramani Mahama as a man of integrity, experience, and vision.
“Ghanaians should vote for a man who is tried and tested. A man who has proven to be incorruptible. A man who has the experience and the steady hands to steer our nation out of the economic quandary we’ve been plunged into.”
Sammy Gyamfi Esq. National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
He assured Ghanaians that Mahama’s leadership would bring stability and prudent economic management.
“The cedi will not depreciate by 54% [as] it did in 2022. The cedi will not depreciate by nearly 30% as it has done this year alone.
He will apply the meager resources of the state judiciously for the betterment of our welfare as a people and for the creation of opportunities for everybody.”
Sammy Gyamfi Esq. National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Addressing concerns about the feasibility of the NDC’s promises, Sammy Gyamfi assured Ghanaians that the party has taken a measured approach.
“Even as we campaign against the rot we’ve seen in the last nearly 8 years, we are very measured in the kind of expectations we create, given the economic realities we know we’ll be confronted with.”
Sammy Gyamfi Esq. National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
He emphasized that the NDC’s policies are practical and feasible. He reiterated;
“Everything we say, everything we promise, are things that we have thought through carefully and we are convinced are achievable.”

Sammy Gyamfi’s remarks paint a grim picture of Ghana’s current economic state under the NPP while offering hope for the future under an NDC-led government.
With just 10 days to the election, Sammy Gyamfi called on Ghanaians to make a decisive choice for change by voting for John Dramani Mahama, whom he described as a trustworthy and capable leader.
