The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi Esq., has vehemently denied allegations of extravagant spending in Miami, labelling them as baseless.
In a sharp rebuttal, Lawyer Gyamfi provided an alibi for the time in question. According to him, the timeline of the alleged Miami trip coincided with several public engagements in Ghana.
”I thought they said I was in Miami because the story I saw says I was in Miami chilling for 2 weeks. And, I was sleeping in the hotel I was paying $3,000. These are lies, which are the product of demented minds”.

He recounted his presence at the burial of the late Mawuena Dwomor at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, on Saturday, and the funeral of the NDC Ashanti Regional Organizer’s mother on Sunday.
He further mentioned his appearance on the NDC 360 program from Accra, his participation in court proceedings on Thursday in support of the Minority Leader, Honourable Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, and subsequent interactions with the media.
Lawyer Gyamfi emphasized that the video purportedly showing him in Miami was from a previous trip with his wife, taken shortly after their marriage.
He expressed dismay that the old video was being used to fuel false narratives, denying knowledge of the hotels, he allegedly spent two weeks in Miami for two weeks.
“So it’s just ridiculous. Okay. Just purely nonsensical. No sane person will make such wield allegations without proof. But I mean, this is just foolishness, plain and simple. Because I’ve never been to the hotels they are talking about. And I’ve never been there. I’ve never stayed in Miami for 2 weeks. I’ve been to Miami a couple of times.
“Just like many other states in the US. I have been in most of the cities in the United States, sometimes I’ ‘m in New York and I’ve been to many states in the US including Miami a couple of times. The video they are circulating is a video from 1 of my past trips to Miami with my wife. I believe in the immediate aftermath of my marriage”.

Media Involvement in the Spread of False News
Addressing the broader implications of the allegations, the National Democratic Congress National Communications Officer criticized the media houses involved in spreading these stories.
He singled out Asaase Radio and ABC News, accusing them of irresponsible journalism and threatening legal action.
Lawyer Gyamfi clarified the financial realities of his role within the National Democratic Congress, asserting that contrary to public perception, national officers of the party are not salaried and often finance their activities through personal means and fundraising efforts.
“And some of the people who are saying these things, really they don’t even know you. These are men of straw. But some people will be taken on relative to this matter. And the issues will be settled in court. People like Asaase Radio belong to Gabby Otchere Darko; a company like that with lawyers, with management, and you allow people like Wilberforce Asare to write nonsense and foolishness.
“And the likes of ABC News belonging to Gordon Asare, who wrote rubbish, published stories, going all over. As for them, I won’t treat them the way I would treat normal foot soldiers. They will come and explain in court when they saw me in Miami spending NDC’s money”.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to integrity and impact, vowing to take legal action against those spreading falsehoods against him.
