A Security Expect and Analyst, Adam Bona has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party administration to provide all the necessary resources that the Ghana Police Service would require to carry out it operations in the December 7 2024 general election.
Mr Bona reacting to the Jubilee House statement refusing allegations of President Akufo-Addo masterminding a political change in the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces, strongly argued that the security operations during the 2024 general elections must be handled by the Ghana Police Service.
According to Mr Adam Bona, there is evidence of political tension in the country ahead of the 2024 December 7 general elections hence, it is very important for the government to adequately resource the Ghana Police Service to discharge its mandate without any excuses.
“Jubilee house if you ask me I think that they will have to help the Police, give them resources, make sure that they have adequate resources, and recruit more into the service. Because the more police officers the less we will want the military and other security agencies to support election security.
“So we are watching, and some of us will not leave the space we are going to be here to make sure that 2024 around this time today 5th we will be preparing to swear in the incoming President by the 7th of January 2025. Which I think we should all be concerned about.”

The renowned Security Analyst further stated that effective security operations by the Ghana Police Service both before, during and after the December 7 2024 general elections would ensure an incidence-free election.
He noted that under such circumstances any political party which loses the 2024 general elections is likely to admit without any equivocations like it has happened in some of the past elections in the country.
“We are going into 2024 elections there will be no chaos whoever wins we swear you in and you know the NPP says they will break the 8, NDC says those who put you into suffering must go”.

Ghana Armed Forces Urged To Abstain From Election Day Security Operations
Moreover, Mr Adam Bona admonished the Ghana Armed Forces to refrain from involving itself in the election day security operations unless it is been called upon.
He expressed deep worries and concerns over the use of some military personnel during the 2020 general elections and subsequently during the recent District-Level Elections.
‘I am happy the security heads met recently in putting together some guidelines on the elections. The military should always be on standby and not be following DCEs MCEs and members of Parliament around and terrorizing citizens, that is not the work of the military. That is what gives some of us cause for concern.
“What happened in 2020 when some citizens died, some military were used here and there. In the District Assembly Elections, some DCEs MCEs and MP’s them used military men to intimidate citizens. District Assembly Elections that a lot of Ghanaians don’t go out to vote they used them”.
Adam Bona
Mr Adam Bona concluded by emphasizing that there is a high possibility of confrontation ensuing between some members of the public and the military if military personnel are deployed during the December 7, 2024, general elections as it happened during the 2020 general elections.
He thus admonished President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces to learn from the unfortunate happenings of the 2020 general elections and abort any idea of directly involving the military in security operations in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
