The Acting CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer vowed to get the MP for Nsawan Doagyiri Hon. Annoh Dompreh legally removed from Parliament.
Dr. Tanko expressed strong opposition to the declaration of Hon. Annoh Dompreh as the duly elected Member of Parliament, arguing that the election results were manipulated.
“We have filed an election petition against the declaration of Hon. Anoh Dompreh as the winner of that contest. The Koforidua High Court is handling that. I’ve been reliably informed that they are now properly served. Lawyer Darren Maku is the one representing him. So we are pursuing the case. We are against the declaration. It wasn’t proper.”
“Fake pink sheets, scam ones were used to declare him. And at our blind side because we were in court, we filed a stay of execution of the Mandamus that was filed at the High Court, and they went ahead and declared it. So, we are pursuing that matter vigorously.”

Dr. Tanko questioned the legitimacy of Hon. Annoh Dompreh presence in Parliament, arguing that his election was not valid.
“The fact that he managed his way into the house doesn’t mean that he was validly elected. This is a crooked way of trying to lord himself over the electorate in that constituency. They voted him out, but he managed his way through this crooked means. And we must make sure that the sanctity of our democracy and electoral processes is upheld. We can’t allow this.”
“If we allow this, we are setting a dangerous precedent that anybody who thinks that he has managed to get some crooked electoral officers on his side can declare victory and be accepted. We are not going to allow that. We want the right thing to be done.”

Discrepancies in the Declaration Process

Dr. Tanko detailed how his team resisted certain acts at the collation center, only for the declaration to be made through corrupt means.
“We saw it at Tesano when they came to do the declaration. That’s why they couldn’t do it because they brought fake pink sheets—scam ones, photocopies. Where did they get them from? That’s why we resisted them at that place. And yet they went behind the scenes, organized themselves, got some crooked electoral officers on their side, and went ahead and declared it.”
“We all disagreed at IPAC because they were trying to talk of scam copies or photocopies, and we said no. We are not going to accept that. So, we came to the conclusion that if you have the original pink sheets, we can go ahead with the declaration. But they didn’t have them.”

Dr. Tanko noted that Hon. Annoh Dompreh’s declaration was rushed, making it difficult to prevent him from being gazetted before Parliament’s swearing-in. However, legal options are still available, and his team has acted within the constitutional timeframe to challenge the results. When asked when he wanted him [Annoh Dompreh] out of Parliament, he said;
“In fact, as early as possible because the gentleman is a nuisance in the house. He’s not supposed to be in that house. We described him as a fugitive because he is running from the law. He must come and face it.”

Dr. Tanko reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice prevails, promising to use all legal means to challenge what he sees as electoral fraud.
“Let the court order for us to review those pink sheets, and you will see that this man was not properly declared. He will be exposed big time. We know what we are doing, and we’ll make sure that this gentleman will not survive in the house. We will use every legal means to get him out.”

Dr. Rashid Tanko’s strong stance on the issue highlights his determination to uphold Ghana’s democratic principles.
With the case now before the Koforidua High Court, the outcome could set a significant precedent for electoral integrity in the country. As proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen whether the court will rule in favor of his petition and order a review of the contested pink sheets.
