Some Ghanaian football fans have expressed high hopes in the Blackstars of Ghana ahead of the World Cup play-offs against its biggest social media and Jollof rival, the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
As patriotic citizens are in high hopes with tensions also soaring ahead of the match, the Vaultz News caught up with some fans to assess their enthusiasm and also pick their expectations ahead of the game.
Speaking with the Vaultz News, an Artiste Manager with Bryte City Entertainment, Joseph Biney, described the match as a “Do or Die” affair as he is expecting a great win for Ghana Blackstars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“For Ghana, today I have ‘vim’ in them because today is a do or die affair. I am supporting my country because of the line up we have seen and coaching that has gone on so far.”
Joseph Biney
Mr. Biney stated that he is very hopeful the team will make the country proud. Predicting the outcome of the match, he averred that Ghana will score the Supereagles of Nigeria. “As for today’s score line, I am predicting a 3-1 win against Nigeria. If it doesn’t go well we just laugh it off. I am supporting Blackstars fully today.”
Also sharing his expectation on the upcoming match, Obed Amui, an Import and Export Officer at CAGL, predicted a win for the Blackstars of Ghana against Nigeria. He attributed his optimism to the new line up of the team regardless of some old members not being part of the line up.
“If I am to make any prediction, Ghana will be my favorite team for today. I know we will win by a goal up against Nigeria because of the new players selection. I think this team feels and looks stronger despite the fact that we wouldn’t have both Ayew brothers in the match. Regardless, I think they will perform very well in getting us a goal or goals in winning against Nigeria.”

We are losing today
However, a graduate of the University of Ghana, Samuel Anim, was of the view that the game doesn’t look like a winning match for the Ghanaian team. He attributed his stance to the lack of confidence in the team representing Ghana.
“In my opinion, if you compare the current Blackstars to that of the Super Eagles, I think we are losing today. But then, in the game of football anything can happen so let’s just be optimistic.”

Supporting the stance that the Blackstars will not win the game, Mr. Nahson Adjetey, A GIJ Graduate stated that the loss will be due to the weak defense system the team has. Mr. Adjetey predicting the outcome of the match stated that Nigeria will win 1-0 against Ghana or at most 2-1. He said although the Ghanaian team will do their best, he’s still not confident they will win.
“Nigerians are more of an attacking football team and if you look at Blackstars, till now our defense set up is shaky. Nigerian will dominate but we also have to be mindful not to keep the ball in our possession for too long because it will go against us. They are faster than us.”
Nahshon Adjetey
Deri Songx, an upcoming music sensation in an interaction with the Vaultz News disagreed with the predictions that Blackstars will loose the match. He expressed confidence in the team but cautioned the goal keeper to make correct moves which wouldn’t go against the team causing it to lose.
“We are just looking forward to a win. What we are scared of is that Jojo Walacott will not go and be shaking in the pole because he is not stable. For the score line 2-0 will be okay because we don’t want them to even score any goal.”
Kobby Deri
A University of Ghana student, Obadiah Coffie also predicted a 2-1 win against Nigeria. According to him, looking at the quality of the players, especially the midfielders, he believes Blackstars will possess the ball more. “Also, the energy levels of the individual players will help the team to press a lot when they lose the ball. I’m hopeful that our strikers will be more direct so we can score enough goals.”
