Vice President Expresses Deep Sorrow On Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy’s Passing

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep sorrow upon learning of the passing of Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, the former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost from 1998 to 2008.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, the NPP Flagbearer lauded Dr. Ntumy’s profound impact on humanity, referring to him as “God’s Chosen General.”

Bawumia acknowledged the selflessness demonstrated by Dr. Ntumy during his leadership within the Church of Pentecost. Alongside his wife, Samira Bawumia, the Vice President extended sincere condolences to Dr. Ntumy’s immediate family and the entire Church of Pentecost community.

The Church of Pentecost officially announced the passing of its former Chairman, Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy (Rtd.). Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of the CoP, shared the news, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. Dr. Ntumy peacefully departed to be with the Lord in the early hours of December 27, 2023. Apostle Obuobi praised Dr. Ntumy as not only a revered man of God but also an inspirational leader. Highlighting his unparalleled commitment to God and significant contributions to the church and community, Apostle Obuobi emphasized the indelible mark left by Dr. Ntumy.

Apostle Obuobi requested prayers for the widow and the bereaved family as they navigate through their grief. Urging respect for the family’s privacy during this challenging time, he underscored Dr. Ntumy’s legacy of selfless service, leadership, and tireless dedication to spreading God’s Word.

Biography Of Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy

Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, born on September 22, 1958, and passing away on December 27, 2023, was a Ghanaian Pentecostal televangelist, Apostle, and the fourth Chairman of the Church of Pentecost from 1998 to 2008. Dr. Ntumy’s journey in ministry began as a teacher in Yendi in the 1980s, eventually becoming a Deacon and Elder before answering the call to full-time ministry with the Church of Pentecost at the age of 26.

Known for his resilience, Dr. Ntumy survived various challenges, including being held hostage in rebel territory during the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s. He faced physical assaults, poisoning attempts, and paralysis, leading to his confinement to a wheelchair.

Despite these adversities, he continued to serve the Church in Liberia and Ivory Coast. After completing two terms as Chairman, spanning 10 years, Dr. Ntumy handed over leadership to Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah. His life and legacy are marked by unwavering dedication to his faith and a commitment to spreading the teachings of the Church of Pentecost.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Ntumy faced numerous challenges, including being held hostage in rebel territory during the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s. Despite physical assaults, poisoning attempts, and paralysis that led to his confinement to a wheelchair, Dr. Ntumy’s resilience and unwavering faith continued to inspire those around him.

His legacy extends beyond the boundaries of Ghana, as he served the Church in Liberia and Ivory Coast. His contributions to the Church of Pentecost and the broader community remain a testament to a life well-lived in service to others.
