Adib Saani averred that although such attacks are ongoing, there has been significant improvement in the nation’s security system. He attributed the improvement to the IGP, Akufo Dampare, indicating that since his inception into office, there has been a number of interventions that has been implemented aimed at improving the security situation in the country.
Adib Saani noted that there has been a lot of movement of the security personnel and a lot more of intelligence led operations that has led to the killing and capturing of some dangerous criminals in the country.
“I have also seen the fight against indiscipline and all that but obviously the criminals will still fight you. They are desperate, they are disorganized and obviously they would want to prove a point that they are still in charge”.

His comments follow the killing of two police officers in Zuarungu in the Upper East Region by armed robbers after responding to distress calls of a robbery attack on a shop in the Zuarungu township.
Adib Saani indicated that by virtue of the nature of their work, even if they are moving and not responding to any active crimes, the criminals when they notice them might engage them thinking they are coming after them.
Provide necessary and adequate equipment
Based on this, Adib Saani suggested that it is important for the Service to provide the Police personnel with the required and adequate equipment and apparels needed for their operations.
“We need to go back to providing them with bullet proof vest, side arms so that we are able to capacitate them enough to not just fight crime but to defend themselves if they find themselves in any such precarious situation”.

He then assured that the Service will also ensure high level officer safety in the course of their work.
He explained that the Police Service is doing that in collaboration with members of Zuarungu where the incident happened. He further assured that the Police Service will do whatever it takes to protect citizens even at the peril of their lives.
ASP Kwesi Fori stated that the Inspector General of Police, Akufo Dampare visited the Zuarungu the Police Regional command, chiefs as well as some members of the General public. He noted that the IGP placed 50,000 cedis cash rewards for credible information that will lead to the where about of the suspects.
“So a lot of measures have taken place and definitely intelligence led investigation is also ongoing”.
