Party Chairman of the NPP in the Yendi Constituency, Abubakar Sadiq, has intimated that he believes in the allegations that the Yendi Member of Parliament, Farouk Mahama, is trying to control access to the polling station executives election forms in the constituency.
Speaking on the turmoil in NPP in the Yendi Constituency, Mr. Sadiq averred that he is confident that the MP, with some others, has connived to do something that will destroy the party. He thus, vowed to resist them saying he will not sit for “someone to sit in his house and do something that will destroy the party.”
Mr Abubakar Sadiq stated that he was sure the over 500 missing names from the party election album were done under the watch of the Member of Parliament, Farouk Aliu Mahama.
“The forms were handed over to him and was not given to the party chairman. All the 110 polling station forms were taken. My secretary was announcing that the forms were ready and interested persons should come for it.”

According to the Yendi NPP Chairman, they have been calling for the forms from the Member of Parliament but he has refused to provide them. He averred that efforts will be put in place to resolve the issue because he wants unity in Yendi and the party in general.
Touching on how to ensure that, in resolving the matter, nobody takes the law into their hands, Abubakar Sadiq noted that the youth has already been cautioned to stop the vandalization and he will ensure the issue is resolved.
“When I went there and stopped them, they stopped. But I promised them I am only stopping them to make sure justice is served for them to have the forms without any criminal activity. So, for them to wait and see a different thing, they won’t be okay. So, I am making it clear to national executives that the petitions are there. They should go through and see if I am right.”

Touching on steps to rectify the missing names, he indicated that he has sent a notice to the constituency election office to assess the happenings and come to their aid. “I have exhausted everything. The youth are angry that the party center is not responding to calls to help resolve the ongoing issues.”
NPP Yendi youth vandalize party office
The party chairman’s reactions came after some irate youth vandalized the office of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Yendi after some misunderstanding relating to the polling station executives election in the Yendi Constituency. The vandalization came about after the Party’s leadership issued a warning that it will expel members who do not use internal mechanisms to address their concerns.
However, the youth claimed the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Farouk Aliu Mahama, contrary to the directive, was trying to stuff the election register in order to get his favorite persons elected.
The party supporters who destroyed sign boards of the MP explained that the register being used for the exercise has unapproved names and individuals captured in it. They indicated that they will resist any attempts by their leadership to impose their will on the electorates and the party faithful’s, adding that they have already lost confidence in the leaders.
