The unified WBA/WBC/WBO Super Middleweight Champion of the world, Santos Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is scheduled to stage a Super Middleweight Championship event with the IBF Super Middleweight World Champion, Caleb “Sweethands” Plant on 6th November 2021, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo, a four (4) division world champion, will look forward to capturing undisputed status for the first time in his career, as he returns to SHOWTIME where he made his pay-per-view main event debut in September 2013.
The 31 years old Mexican superstar prior to his bout with Plant, had staged 59 fights, won 56 fights, 38 wins by way of knockouts (KOs), 2 draws and a loss to the all-time boxing legend, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, in a controversial verdict by the judges.
Meanwhile, the supreme talented Plant, will attempt to earn a career-defining victory and keep his perfect record intact as he makes his fourth world title defence.
The 29 years old, Tennessee native, American professional boxer, Plant, will come into the event with a perfect score, as he has prior to the upcoming event, stagged 21 fights, won all 21 fights, out of which 12 of his victories came by way of knockouts (KOs).
The winner of the 6th of November 2021 bout, Premier Boxing disclosed, will stamp his name in the boxing history books, as the first undisputed 168-pound world champion of the four-belt era.
Match-day expectations ‘odds’
The fighting pride of Mexico, Canelo Alvarez began his ultimate quest for the undisputed Super Middleweight Championship in December 2020, when he successfully defeated the then unbeaten Callum Smith, to sweep both the WBA and WBC titles.
Canelo recently added to his collection of championship belts, the WBO belt through an 8th round KO stoppage win, over the previous undefeated Billy Joe Sanders on 8th May 2021.
Tom Brown, the President of Ten Goose Boxing (TGB) promotions, disclosed that, “this is the highly anticipated fight of the year, and it is rightfully so”.
Tom disclosed that “Canelo Alvarez has proven to be one of the best boxers in the sport today and he is seeking to become the first ever undisputed super middleweight champion”.
However, “Caleb Plant, who is a skilled technician in the ring and extremely confident in his abilities [craft], wants to make history and not to become a footnote”, Tom revealed.
Both men, Tom anticipates, will bring into the ring, wealth of experience and a flaming determination to stage a world class boxing match for the boxing world.
According to Ryan Garcia, a lightweight boxer, he predicts “Canelo knocks out Plant around round 8, ‘cold’”.
Also, Prathamesh Singh Chauhan, a boxing author at EssentiallySports disclosed that, “Canelo edges over ‘Sweethands’ in every boxing department. However, Plant shouldn’t be underestimated, as he is a champion in his own right and is undefeated. Plant’s 21 fight win streak is proof of how consistent he has been throughout his career”.
GIVEMESPORT Boxing, with its match-day odds in favour of Canelo, stated that, “Canelo is a household name in boxing and is the current number one pound-for-pound fighter with Ring Magazine, whilst Caleb Plant comes to the ring with an undefeated record”.
The stage is already set, as both boxers exchanged unsurmountable ugly punches during a star-down at a news conference on Tuesday 21st September 2021, at the Beverly Hilton hotel; the pound-for-pound boxing exhibition is already in motion.
