Moscow has accused Washington of being involved in the attack on Sevastopol, which took place on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

In a statement on Monday, June 24, 2024, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, “The US’ involvement in this horrible crime is beyond any doubt.”

“A response to this crime will certainly follow,” it said.

“On June 23, the Kiev regime, with the support of the United States and its satellites, committed another heinous terrorist crime against the civilian population of Russia. Sevastopol came under attack,” the ministry pointed out.

It added, “One of the most important Orthodox holidays – the day of the Holy Trinity – was intentionally chosen for the terrorist attack.”

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, American ATACMS tactical missiles were used, equipped with cluster warheads to inflict maximum damage.

All flight paths were entered by US specialists based on their own satellite reconnaissance data and an American Global Hawk reconnaissance drone was on duty in the skies near Crimea.

While four missiles were downed, a fifth exploded over the city.

Sevastopol Governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev said that four people, including two children, were killed in the attack, with over 150 others being injured.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that all those responsible for this and other terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation will “be brought to justice.”

“Washington and its satellites have created and fostered the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, actively nurturing and supporting their Ukrainian puppets, waging war against Russia with their hands and encouraging them to commit acts of international terrorism, to kill Russian civilians, including with the use of one of the most terrible types of inhumane weapons – cluster munitions.”

The ministry asserted that Western countries “continue to criminally sweep under the rug the barbaric deeds of the [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy regime,” adding that there has been no condemnation from international organizations either.

“The Russian Federation once again calls on them to give a proper assessment of this latest atrocity of the Kiev regime and the West,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Also on Monday, US Ambassador to Moscow, Lynne Tracy was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry over Sunday’s deadly attack on Sevastopol on Monday.

“During a conversation with head of the US diplomatic mission to Russia Tracy at the Russian Foreign Ministry on June 24, a protest was issued to her over another deadly crime by the Kiev regime, being sponsored and armed by Washington, which conducted a deliberate missile attack on civilians in Sevastopol, causing numerous casualties, including among children,” the ministry said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the United States, which is waging a hybrid war against Russia, has actually become party to the conflict by “supplying the Ukrainian army with the most advanced weapons, including ATACMS missiles, equipped with cluster warheads, used against residents of Sevastopol, whose flight paths are programmed by American military specialists, bears equal responsibility with the Kiev regime for this atrocity.”

The envoy was told that such actions by Washington, aiming to encourage Ukraine’s pro-Nazi authorities to continue combat ‘to the last Ukrainian,’ having issued a permission to deliver strikes deep inside Russian territory, will not go unanswered.

“Response measures will definitely follow,” the Russian Foreign Ministry asserted.

The Russian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal probe into the terrorist attack.

Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov called the attack “absolutely barbaric” and said in a news conference on Monday that Moscow would react to the US involvement.

“You should ask my colleagues in Europe, and above all in Washington … why their governments are killing Russian children,” he told reporters.
