Amid turmoil among Democrats over whether President Joe Biden should drop out of the race, the Trump campaign, according to Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds, is focused on “beating whoever the Democrat party puts up.”
“So whether it’s Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, or anybody else that they got over there, it wont matter because they’re all embracing the same agenda anyway,” the representative said.
Donalds stated that the image projected by Republican National Convention speakers, including former President Donald Trump himself, presented viewers with “a Donald Trump that people needed to see.”
This came in remarks to a news agency after Trump delivered his speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC).
The speech capped off a four-day convention. Thursday evening, like the rest of the convention, was an event in which Trump and his campaign tried to project machismo.
Former President Donald Trump spoke for one hour and 32 minutes at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, making it the longest major-party acceptance speech in recent US history.
Trump also delivered the second and third-longest convention acceptance speeches, going back to 1976. He spoke for one hour and 15 minutes in 2016 and one hour and 10 minutes in 2020.
That includes convention speeches by both Republican and Democratic nominees.
In the early minutes of his speech, Trump delivered some of the “unity” rhetoric that he told journalists he had planned.
“The discord and division in our society must be healed. I am running to be President for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.”

“So tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for president of the United States,” Trump said to applause.
Trump also talked about his assassination attempt.
He said he believed that he had been protected by God last weekend and emphasized how moved he had been by the behavior of his supporters when he was shot.
He asked to hold a moment of silence for Corey Comperatore, the man killed during the attempted assassination at the rally.
Soon after, Trump went on to attack Democrats over the numerous criminal cases that he faces.
“The Democrat party should immediately stop weaponizing the justice system and labeling their political opponents as an enemy of democracy, especially since that is not true.”

“If Democrats want to unify our country, they should drop these partisan witch-hunts,” he added.
Calling Biden one of America’s worst Presidents, Trump claimed, “If you took the 10 worst Presidents in the history of the United States, think of it. The 10 worst. Added them up, they will not have done the damage that Biden has done.”
Moreover, Trump laid out his promises for a second term, including lowering the cost of groceries and gas, bringing back jobs and securing the border.
He pledged “the largest deportation operation in the history of our country.”
He tried to end his remarks on a more hopeful note.
He said that the shooter that attacked his rally in Pennsylvania “wanted to stop our movement but the truth is the movement has never been about me, it has always been about you.”
“It can’t be stopped,” he added.
“Tonight, I ask for your partnership, for your support, and I am humbly asking for your vote. Every day, I will strive to honor the trust you have placed in me, and I will never, ever, let you down.”

An Even More Extreme Vision
Biden campaign Chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon criticised Donald Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention, saying that it’s “an even more extreme vision for where he wants to take this country.”
“Donald Trump rambled on for well over an hour and failed to mention Project 2025 even once,” O’Malley Dillon said.
“He sought to find problems with America, not to provide solutions,” O’Malley Dillon stated, adding, “The choice has never been more clear.”
The Biden campaign chair asserted, “President Biden is running on a different vision. He’s running for an America where we defend democracy, not diminish it.”
“Where we restore our rights and protect our freedoms, not take them away. One where we create opportunities for everyone, while making the super wealthy finally pay their fair share. That is the future President Biden believes in and is the future that millions of our fellow Americans believe in too.”

“The stakes have never been higher,” the Biden campaign chair added.
