Donald Trump has said that he does not expect U.S President, Joe Biden to end his bid to be re-elected president of the United States.
Trump’s comments came after Biden slapped down calls for him to quit following his disastrous debate performance last month, insisting in a letter to Congressional Democrats that he is committed “to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump.”
In a telephone interview with Sean Hannity, the Republican candidate said that Biden “might very well stay in” the race despite mounting pressure to drop out due to concerns over his physical and mental fitness.
He suggested that Biden will stay in the race because of his ego.
“He’s got an ego, and he doesn’t want to quit. He doesn’t want to do that… nobody wants to give that up in that way. He’s going to feel badly about himself for a long time.”

Trump stated that the Democratic Party could do little to force Biden out of the race, apart from invoking a constitutional provision that enables the vice president and cabinet members to declare that the President is unable to discharge his duties.
“He has all the power, he has the delegates. He doesn’t have to get out,” Trump said.
Also, Trump noted that he expects Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee if Biden does choose to step aside.
“I think it will be her,” he said.
He added, “I think they are very concerned about the vote if it’s not her… They are gun shy, they don’t want to do it any other way.”
Furthermore, Trump also addressed last month’s debate for the first time, calling it a “strange evening.”
“I thought his voice was weak, I didn’t know exactly what was happening,” he said of Biden.
Trump To Announce Running Mate Soon
Mentioning names such as Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Tim Scott, Senator JD Vance and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Hannity asked Trump about his potential running mate.
To this, Trump remarked that these individuals are “absolutely under consideration” but he is yet to reach a final decision.
He hinted that an announcement might come soon, potentially at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which begins on July 15, 2024.
“We’ll be announcing soon and I think everybody’s going to be very happy. The choice will be very good. Meaning, a person who can do a fantastic job as President — you always have to think about that first — and second, somebody who’s going to help you get elected, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”

He also noted that the announcement will come “probably a little before the convention, but not much.”
“It could even be during the convention that we’d do it. I’d love to do it during the convention. … It would make it even more exciting,” he added.
Senior advisers and longtime allies insist they still don’t know whom the presumptive GOP nominee will choose to join him on the ticket.
Meanwhile, Trump has two rallies planned. The first is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2024, evening at his golf club in Doral, Florida, near Miami.
Among those who will attend Tuesday’s rally is Marco Rubio, a senior Florida US senator, believed to be one of the leading contenders for Trump’s vice-presidential pick.
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Trump will travel to the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania for another rally at the Butler Farm Show.
He could simply announce the news on his Truth Social platform at any moment between now and the Republican National Convention, which kicks off in Milwaukee.
