Stanbic Refurbrishes Maternity Ward at 37 Military Hospital

Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited has refurbished the maternity ward of 37 Military Hospital, one of country’s oldest and largest health facility and handed over the ultra-modern ward to the hospital’s authorities.

The maternity block’s refurbishing is part of Stanbic Bank’s many corporate social investment initiatives to ensure a better world and enhanced livelihood for all and follows after the Bank made a donation of GHS 50,000 to the Child Cancer Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), also referred to as Ridge Hospital, to enable the hospital acquire a Cytotoxic Safety Cabinet needed for the activities of the Unit.

Handing over the facility on behalf of the bank to the management of the 37 Military hospital, the Head of Customer Channels at Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, Mr. Eugene Ocansey went on to assure the hospital that this is but one of many goodwill gestures aimed at supporting the hospital.

“The call to be a contributor to the fulfilment of [Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)] Goal 3, particularly the reduction of maternal mortality, is one that is dear to us at Stanbic,” Mr. Ocansey opined, adding that this emphasizes one among many reasons why the Bank’s management came up with this initiative and set aside some funds to support and make it a reality.

Taking steps to provide assistance to health care centres including 37 Military Hospital and Ridge Hospital as part of this years’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is in line with Stanbic Banks’ pledge to look beyond their financial outcome to create more value socially, economically and environmentally as a leading Africa-focused financial services organisation as well as its commitment to developing platforms to engage with and support communities where they operate, building its brand through relevant and meaningful sponsorship.

Stanbic Bank is also keen on promoting the wellbeing of all, especially women and it is in this vein that it recently joined the military high command in celebrating 60 years of women in the army.

Brigadier General Nii Adjah Obodai, Commander of the 37 Military Hospital giving his remarks at the ceremony on behalf of the hospital authorities after the ultra-modern ward was successfully handed over intimated that “We are delighted to receive such a kind gesture from Stanbic Bank, as they didn’t hesitate to take up the request from the hospital to renovate one room of the maternity ward.

“We really appreciate this kind gesture, even though we know it is just the beginning of more to come. Once more, we are so much grateful for your thoughtfulness,” the Brigadier General added.

Finally, the hospital in appreciation of the kind gesture done them also presented a plaque to Stanbic Bank in honour of their efforts.
