Stanbic Refurbrishes Maternity Ward at 37 Military Hospital

Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited has made a donation of GHS 50,000 to the Child Cancer Unit of  the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), also referred to as Ridge Hospital, to enable the hospital acquire a Cytotoxic Safety Cabinet needed for the activities of the Unit.

Communications Manager at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Kojo Akoi-Larbi, when handing over the cheque to the management of the hospital intimated that “being part of this society, we believe that we must help impact what happens in the community. Education and health care/child-care are among the areas that are key to us and though we may not be able to provide all the help needed in these sectors, we can help improve the condition of some of our people”.

Kojo Akoi-Larbi went on to affirm Stanbic Bank’s commitment in making sure that the necessary support is alloted when it comes to health related matters in the country adding that “we are just here to ensure that some good news arrives at this hospital and that our gesture this morning would bring smiles onto the faces of some children”.

This is in line with Stanbic Banks’ pledge to look beyond their financial outcome to create more value socially, economically and environmentally as a leading Africa-focused financial services organisation as well as its commitment to developing platforms to engage with and support communities where they operate, building its brand through relevant and meaningful sponsorship.

Upon receiving the cheque on behalf of the Child Cancer Unit and the entire hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh, Medical Director of the hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation emphasising the fact that Stanbic Bank is the first corporate institution to respond to the call by the hospital in the acquisition of the machine.

“On behalf of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, we are delighted by your kind gesture and we will like to say that, feel free anytime any of you want a relationship or partnership with us in terms of healthcare delivery, we are ready to collaborate, and even as individuals. Any time you want to use our facility, you can come through for our assistance.

“Once again on behalf of the management team, the Child Health Department, we thank you so much for this gesture coming in at this point in time, and I think you are the first people to respond to our request for the acquisition of the Cytotoxic Safety Cabinet”.

The unique demands of handling and preparing cytotoxic drugs for use in chemotherapy require a specialized cabinet. A Cytotoxic Safety Cabinet is, therefore, the premium solution for cytotoxic/antineoplastic drug processing, providing the highest level of patient, pharmacist and environmental protection.

The GARH further called on other corporate bodies to come on board to contribute towards the purchase of the machine, which costs GHS175,916.29.
