STEPHANIE BENSON INSPIRES CANCER PATIENTS

The U.K based Ghanaian singer, Princess Akua Ohenewaa Asieanem who is popularly known as Stephanie Benson, has tasked cancer patients never to give up on their path to recovery.

Taking to her Instagram page, the famous singer who herself, had battled cancer four years ago noted that she was indeed on the verge of giving up but then picked herself up and did not give up on her quest to recovery, therefore, there is absolutely nothing that should stop other cancer patients to recover from the deadly illness.

 “Four years ago during cancer recovery, I was bloated, tired, but hopeful. I never gave up. Right now some of us might feel a little dejected and feeling hopeless but remember you still have the power in your hands.

She went on to emphasize that, they have no excuse not to deliver what they have promised themselves  and that they had  to hold themselves accountable for every action they plan on taking She wrote:

Several of her fans and followers who have come to know her for her motivational speeches now and then, could not agree with her less as they commented.

On 29 October 2015, Benson underwent surgery for breast cancer, a situation she described as shocking when she was diagnosed, revealing that she had lost her grandmother, mother, and other relatives to the disease.

 Following her survival, she trained to do a mountain walk in France on 1 September 2016 with the Dutch “Singing for your Life” team to raise funds towards cancer research and mobile mammogram unit for Ghana, and support for the Dutch Cancer Society.

Nonetheless, she has publicly talked about surviving breast cancer after undergoing a total of 28 hours of surgery within three days.

On 19 March 2016, at Labadi Beach Hotel, Omanye Hall in Accra, she held a women’s gathering centered on her fight against breast cancer to encourage and strengthen women amidst music and words of exhortation.

She released her song titled “Dear Lord” at this event, which was attended by notable women including Nana Ama McBrown, Michelle McKinney-Hammond as well as singers Akosua Agyapong, Irene Logan, Yaa Yaa, and Becca.
