Mahama’s Behavior, An Attempt to Retain Flagbearership Next Election

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, has intimated that, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, is deliberately rejecting the results of the election to earn his retention as the flagbearer of the party come next election year 2024.

According to him, the opposition leader’s dragging of the matter is also merely an attempt to draw sympathy from the party members to vote.

“We all know that; the purpose of his effusions is to cult the sympathy of the NDC to put him up again as the Presidential candidate in 2024.”

In a press conference held today, 15th December, 2020, in Accra, John Boadu stated that, what is strange is the unwillingness of former President John Mahama to go to the appropriate channel to make his case.

He said, there is no doubt that Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo won the 2020 Presidential election emphatically and without doubt, further noting that, John Mahama from the onset had declared his intention to reject the outcome of the election.

He revealed that, it is only a competent court of jurisdiction that can hand over the Presidency to John Mahama and not the Electoral Commission.

Touching on the Parliamentary results, the General Secretary said that, after the declaration of the Sene West parliamentary results, he was confident that the NPP will win the seat, totaling the number of seats to 138.

He added that, the NDC does not have and cannot have the purported 140 parliamentary seats.

“Regarding the Parliamentary Elections, the results were collated and declared in all 275 constituencies at the collation centers, except that of Sene West which is yet to be declared.”

He therefore called on Ghanaians to condemn without reservation the intransigence of the NDC and also called on the NDC, to go to court to address their grievances if they have any.

“We are confident that, Ghanaians believe in and accept the results of the election by the Electoral Commission”.

He also called on the security agencies to be resolute in protecting the state.

He then posited that the closeness of the election results show that, Ghanaians want both parties to collaborate, adding that, his party has accepted to work with opposition in parliament for the interest of the public.

He then challenged the opposition party to put out their figures which they deem accurate.

He said, although they have accepted the results, they also dispute the outcome of the results in some areas, but they are putting together the evidence to challenge it rightly in court.

He noted that, the EC has affirmed that, the NPP has majority of seats as of now with their current collated results.

Additionally, Mr. Boadu said, the results that EC has put out has been corroborated and endorsed as free and fair by the EU mission.

He added that, the election of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the President, reflects the will of the people and also the work the government has done to develop the country in the last 4years.

Mr. Boadu further stated that, as it stands, the party is diligently working to ensure they fulfill their promises and will not be distracted.
