Ghanaian Afrobeat musician and rapper, Elom Adablah, better known by his stage name E.L, has said that he is not bothered by other artists who outshine him.

The award-winning singer made this known during an interview session on a television station in Accra.

His comment follows a question he was asked as to whether he wasn’t fazed over artists he gives his platform to; people who have the tendency of outshining him.

“If you know me, if you hang out with me, you will realize that I am really in my own lane, I am really not bothered by what other people are doing. If I did I would not have been in the position that I am right now to be able to say I want to give back. So I do my own thing”.

Lauding himself, he further emphasized that for him there is nothing like a competition because there are one and a million things he can do and therefore makes him very unique in every way.

“So as for the competition, it doesn’t exist for me because if you find an artist that can do what EL, all the things that EL ,does then you’ve really searched in a haystack”.

The multi-talented artist, shedding light on other things he could do aside from being an industry player said; ” I have edited if not 80% of all the videos that I have, directed, co-produced…when I was a little boy I always wanted to do everything. I just wanted to do everything. I can cook, I can bake, gardening, farming… at a point in time I was actually baking cakes”.

He further revealed that he learned how to video edit online and later expanded his knowledge by learning from a friend who is a professional video editor to become one himself.

EL also added that school is not the only means to gain knowledge because there is a lot of information online.

“It’s all online, everything is online. If you want to learn anything you just go online. I learned online and learned from the professionals, my friends who did it. So, Geo from Famous Films, he taught me so much… it’s not just school, school is just a medium, a means to an end but there are other ways to learn”.

Touching on the issue of COVID-19, the artist said the global pandemic slackened his plans as he had wanted to tour some countries. That notwithstanding, he was quick to add that, it did not stop him from working here in Ghana, especially on his annual concert ‘The Bar Concert’, and he was hopeful that the coming year will see him do all that he did not do this year.

E.L THE BAR CONCERT

The hitmaker is set to have his annual concert ‘The Bar Concert’ which gives the spotlight to some of the new musicians and producers to exhibit their talents.

This year’s edition is slated for December 19, 2020, at 6 pm inside Alliance Française, Accra.
