Executive Director of ASKOF Production Mrs. Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, and the organizers of the ‘Pose for Africa’ reality modeling show, has said that the show is focused on showcasing Ghana’s arts and culture to the world whiles promoting the wear Ghana agenda.

Mrs. Asantewaa Aduonum in an interview explained that the show since it started has focused on telling the stories of Ghanaian fashion in the past and present showcasing some intriguing designs. She further intimated that the modeling show seeks to churn out new ideas about Ghanaian fashion which is targeted at complementing the ‘Wear Ghana’ agenda.

“Fashion has been part of Ghana’s history and there is no doubt it has changed over past years. ‘Pose For Africa’ wants to showcase both the modern and past image of Ghanaian fashion and also sell our rich arts and culture to the outside world.

“The reality show seeks to promote tourism thus showcasing various Ghanaian arts to the outside world and hopefully, we can make the desired impact”.

That aside, the ‘Wear Ghana’ project is a campaign that seeks to encourage Ghanaians to wear made-in Ghana clothes and use other fashion accessories that are locally produced. The campaign runs throughout the year but its expected to hold its event in March with a series of activities such as seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, fashion shows, production of a fashion magazine, and an awards night to honor fashion industry players, Ghanaians, and institutions whose activities have promoted the fashion industry in Ghana.

It can be recalled that the first edition of the program directed that, the Month of March has been designated as ‘Wear Ghana Month’. This was launched by Hon. Dr. Mustapha Hamid, the then former Information Minister on 9th March 2018. During the launch, he emphasized the need for Wear Ghana Month to be promoted both locally and internationally to make Ghana a tourism destination through fashion.

That notwithstanding, Mr. Benjamin Kojo Mills also known as Mr. Wear Ghana who doubles as C.E.O of Street Fashion Train Foundation, and Wear Ghana Month Project Officer said “during the month of March, Ghanaians are entreated to be nationalistic and wear anything locally produced in Ghana like our shoes, bags, beads, etc”.
