Akuapem Poloo can get a lesser punishment

Speaking with The Vaultz Media (TVM), Lawyer Adwoa;Osafredu Asubonteng, who earlier indicated that there is still hope for Akuapem Poloo, has intimated that it now rests on Lawyer Andrews to convince the court that Akuapem Poloo’s sentence is indeed “harsh”. According to Lawyer Adwoa, if he is able to achieve it, then Akuapem Poloo could either be fined, cautioned or have the 90 day sentence reduced even if the court decides to still enforce the custodial sentence.

“As indicated earlier in our discussion on the matter, Rosemond is entitled to Appeal the sentence and also to apply for bail pending Appeal.

“Gratefully, the Accra High Court has granted bail after the bail was applied for by Rosemond’s Lawyer and same was not opposed to by the State Attorney leading the prosecution of the case.

“What is next is solely dependent on how the Lawyer is able to canvass for the sentence to be varied or mitigated and how the High Court will be persuaded to hold that the 90 days sentence was harsh and a fine or caution will be most appropriate in the circumstance”.

Akuapem Poloo files for a notice of appeal after sentencing

It can be recalled that last Friday ‘Akuapem Poloo’ was sentenced to 90 days in prison. This comes after the social media sensation posted some naked photos of herself and her son on his seventh birthday anniversary. She was sentenced on the charges of publication of obscene material and domestic violence to wit conducts which undermines the privacy and integrity of another person, and conduct which detracts, or is likely to detract from the dignity of another human being.

However, not satisfied with the conviction, the convict/appellant [Akuapem Poloo] filed a notice of appeal at the High court for determination. Akuapem Poloo’s lawyer said the sentencing was harsh and the non-custodial sentence would have been best.
