Hip pop artist and AMG member, Medikal has been trending for all the wrong reasons and he has come out to explain that people got the wrong impression and as such want to correct such impressions.
This follows Medikal walking off stage during the just ended 4syte Music Video Awards. In a viral video that has been making rounds on social media, Medikal is seen walking off stage to take his seat while his other colleagues were still performing an official song they had composed for the event.

Speaking in an interview, Medikal clarified that all the artists performing that particular song were supposed to leave the stage after performing their verse. He further explained that the other artists got carried away with excitement and according to Medikal, that could be the reason why the other artists stayed longer on the stage than initially planned.
“This was what actually happened. The plan was after we are done performing, we were supposed to leave the stage and I was done with my verse. My colleagues were also supposed to leave after their verses because Kuami Eugene was up next with a performance with Keche. So, I think they were over-excited and so, they wanted to stay till the song was fully done and unfortunately, people got the wrong impression when I left the stage.
Medikal also intimated that if he was disrespecting the event organizers, he wouldn’t have sat through the whole show. He also emphasized that he stayed to even perform another song after winning his second award.
“I can’t disrespect 4syte TV. If there was any sign of disrespect, I wouldn’t have still been at the premises and sit to enjoy the whole show. I would have left for the house immediately after I walked off stage. Even after I received my second award, I graced the show with another performance and so, it wasn’t any disrespect. It’s not a behavior someone would put up if they are disrespecting you”.
Medikal explains why he couldn’t walk backstage
Some people upon viewing the video have argued that he could have used the backstage rather than just walking off the stage to go sit down at the front row.
In response to this, Medikal explained that “there was no backstage”. He noted that due to the pandemic there was just a few invited people at the award;grounds, therefore walking directly off stage wasn’t such a big deal as other people speculated.
“For those who weren’t at the venue, I don’t think they knew how the setup of the stage was. There was no backstage even though the stage was very luxurious and classy. Everything was just there and people were just chilling. It wasn’t an event that people are supposed to come and be jumping onstage. It was set up in a way that you can just chill and have fun. Also, the number was very limited because of the COVID. So after my verse, I had to just go and sit on my seat”.
On that awards night, Medikal took home two awards. He was adjudged MVAS ‘Most influential artist and Most popular video of the year’. Speaking about bagging the awards, he stated that he was very excited to;have won those categories as it goes to show how hard he has worked.
