John Mahama to begin a ‘Thank You Tour Program’

The former President of Ghana and 2020 Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will commence a thank you tour today.

Despite the Supreme Court’s ruling on NDC’s election petition, the 2020 Presidential Candidate has declared he is on a tour to express his gratitude to Ghanaians for their votes and support in the immediate past December 2020 Election.

A statement by the President’s communications team revealed that, the tour will cover all the 16 administrative regions of Ghana.

The ‘Thank You Tour Program’ is set to take place in various phases of which the first juncture is to commence today.

First phase focuses on Northern Ghana

The first phase of the tour program focuses on the Northern parts of Ghana and it is presumed to be completed by the end of the 23rd day of August 2021.

The former President declared that the journey will commence from Bolgatanga the capital of Upper East Region today August 17, 2021. He will later tour Walewale in North East Region Wednesday 18th August.

According to the schedule, the 2020 NDC Presidential Candidate will extend his journey to Tamale, the capital of Northern Region on Thursday August 19.

Mr Mahama indicated that, the tour of the northern part of Ghana will extend to Upper west Region and further to his home, Savanna Region on 20th and 23rd of August respectively.

The former President of Ghana will be accompanied by Executive Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to meet members of the Upper Eastern Regional House of Chiefs as well as other local Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the various regions as part of his ‘Thank You Tour Program’.

Mahama to conferences

Aside meeting with Chiefs and Queen mothers, Ex-President Mahama will hold conferences with religious and opinion leaders. The religious leaders he would be meeting consists of the Chief Imam, Catholic Bishops, Head Pastors, Leaders of Traditional Worshippers, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian and Evangelical leaders.

Mr. Dramani Mahama is expected to meet with sub-groups of the NDC at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) auditorium at Bolgatanga, according to a statement signed by the Upper East Regional chairman of the NDC, Mr. Donatus Akumagri. The sub-group comprise of both current and former regional executives, the Upper East Parliamentary Caucus along with 10 constituency executives from each of the 15 constituencies in the region. The sub-group also compose of all Regional Campaign Team member of the 2020 General Election.

The 2020 Presidential Candidate will also meet with the patrons of the Upper East wing of the Tertiary Educational Institution Network (TEIN).

Based on the release, Mr John Dramani Mahama will also be interacting with former government appointees and past 2020 Parliamentary candidates. Additionally, he will engage the Regional Council of Elders and the members of the regional communication group.

Also, as part of the tour the former President will make provisions to interact with the Media.

The Ex-President advised the general public, especially NDC party supporters to comply strictly with covid-19 protocols regarding the number of people per gathering.
