The 7-year old marriage of Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rude Boy of the erstwhile music duo P Square, and his entrepreneur wife, Anita Okoye has crashed as the latter has filed a petition for a divorce.
Details surrounding the crash of the marriage came from the leak of the official petition for the divorce which cited irreconcilable differences as the basis of the irreparable breakdown of the marriage.
It can be recalled that the couple got married in 2014 after dating for 10 years and they both share three beautiful children.
According to some reports, Anita first sparked divorce rumors in April this year when it was reported that she relocated with their three children to the United States of America.
Also, in 2019, she was accused by a popular aphrodisiac vendor of buying items to keep her marriage together. The vendor later took down the story from Instagram.
Well, the news of their pending divorce comes as a massive shock to both families and their close friends.
A source close to the couple confirmed that both parties will proceed amicably with the legal resolution and be the best co-parents in the interest of their children.
The source also said that Paul and Anita have always been very good friends and like every couple “they have had issues for a while but plan to remain on good terms and keep the friendship they have always had since their days as university students”.
Currently, Paul Okoye is on a press tour while Anita has moved to the United States where she is working on her master’s degree as a graduate student. She also owns a children’s brand, Tannkco.
The divorce filing brings an impending end to one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity unions.
Meanwhile, social media has been in a craze when the news of the couple divorcing hit the internet. There have been several mixed reactions on social media.
According to some netizens, they were still fighting for Paul to reunite with his twin brother, Peter Okoye and now this sad news has made matters worse.
Others also lamented how several marriages of celebrities don’t last. According to them, getting married and later divorcing has become a common routine.
