Music superstar, Drake has announced that Nigeria singer, Tems, will be featured in his most anticipated album Certified Lover Boy (CLB).

Drake on some billboard ads in Lagos announced that Tems will feature on the album which will be released on Friday, September 3, 2021.

“Hey Nigeria Tems is on CLB,” the ad reads.

That notwithstanding, as part of the promotions for his forthcoming album, Drake has been using billboard ads in various cities of the featured artist, to advertise the album. Such billboards have been spotted in Atlanta, USA in reference to local artists like, 21 Savage, and Lil Baby who are featured on the album.

Well, the ad in New York is more cryptic as it reads; “Hey New York The Goat is on CLB”.

Speaking of Tems, this continues her incredible year which as she has seen a record she featured on, break new grounds for Afrobeats.

The singer joined Wizkid for ‘Essence’ off Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album. The record has become a hit in the United States and became the first Afrobeats record to enter;the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has continued to rise in the chart to Top 20 and is currently the number one song on the Billboard R&B chart.

More so, on August 31, 2021, Tems had another achievement to celebrate;as she was named ‘BET’s Amplified Artist of The Month of August 2021’.

Meanwhile, the sonorous singer is not stopping at all; she recently revealed that she will be dropping more songs in 2021.

Genesis of Tems music career

Well, for a musician who didn’t take the music seriously until she released ‘Mr. Rebel, it is quite surprising for a lot of people that she has been able to come this far.

According to her, the song was just one of those songs she had written and put on her laptop. When she released it, she just wanted to test the market and the song went viral. Before then, she was a complete novice as regards the music industry.

“I recorded the song for the sole purpose of releasing it and;it taught me the steps and processes to releasing music. Before then, I didn’t know anybody. I didn’t even know there was necessarily an industry… After it dropped, I just felt like this was the beginning”.

Tems

Tems noted that she just wanted to share her music with people as she didn’t think she was going to have one million streams from one song within a few months.

But for Tems, who names Wizkid and Adele as her inspiration, it is only in the right sense that she achieves a breakthrough of being featured on Drake’s album.

It can be recalled that during a recent interview, she was asked about her inspirations in music and she answered, “Wizkid is definitely one of the people I respect that does music. I have lots of love for Adele”.

She also disclosed that she has no dream collaborations at the moment, however, she is most proud of taking the leap into making music.

Above all, Tems refers to God for all her successes, not her talent. Her biggest goal is to tour at least 10 different countries.
