Davido responds as MI Abaga pleads for collaboration

Nigerian superstar, Davido has responded to ace rapper, MI Abaga’s request for a ‘hit song’ collaboration.

This follows MI responding to a 1million Naira donation request from Davido on social media to clear his Rolls Royce for his upcoming birthday.

MI Abaga before sending one million Naira into Davido’s account wrote: “You people that got a hit song from David know that it’s worth way more! I want my own hit song with Davido. Can I send mine to get a hit song as well!? ‘Fire’ is one of my favorite songs of all time”.

Responding to MI Abaga’s request, Davido said: “I got you, send.”

The 40-year-old rapper shortly shared a receipt of his 1 million Naira donation to Davido.

Davido has been trending on the Nigerian social media space since yesterday after he asked his friends and fans to donate 1million Naira each to him for his birthday.

Calling for the donations, Davido wrote mostly in pidgin English: “We rise by lifting others abi? Me I don dey rise dey lifting others for the past 100 years. So, I want to know who my friends are. All of my friends one one million Naira. They said we are 30BG. If you don’t send your own, you out of here. You are gone”.

In less than an hour after his tweet, Davido received over 53 million Naira in cash just after asking colleagues for 1 million Naira each. So far, the pop star has gotten about 171 million Naira.

Some of Davido’s donors include Nigerian businessmen, Obi Cubana and Femi Otedola. The singer, however, did not disclose the amount sent to him from the likes of Femi Otedola, Obi Cubana, E-Money, Patoranking, and some others.

Meanwhile, among several donors was Ghanaian rapper, Medikal. Medikal, just like MI Abaga, made a request before sending Davido 1000 dollars. Medikal requested a car from him as a birthday gift.

Davido actually requested a couple of Ghanaian musicians including Shatta Wale, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Edem, and Darkovibes, to send him 1million naira each. Out of the lot, Medikal was the only Ghanaian collaborator who made an effort to send Davido money.

Knowing Davido to be quite the showoff, he might just grant Medikal his wish of buying him a car for his birthday.

Well, to every ‘ying, there is a yang’. While some of Davido’s fans have been more than happy to send money, others have called the singer out.

as Davido keeps making history and has got people talking on social media when he disclosed that he was flying his private jet from Atlanta to go have lunch in Los Angeles.

One Twitter user tweeted: “The world is really going crazy, how can Davido ask fans [for] money?”

But others disagreed, with one saying: “He deserves more… he has been a blessing to many and it’s time to give back to him. Happy birthday in advance @davido”.

For some people, their issue wasn’t with Davido directly but his fans. Dancehall singer, Cynthia Morgan, took to her Instagram story to call out Davido fans, describing them as “ignorant and unintelligent”.

“I have always known Davido’s fans to be ignorant and unintelligent since 2016. So, I am not surprised at your foolery”.

The dancehall singer explained that if one has to compel people to celebrate them, then it means there is nothing to be celebrated.

Making reference to Davido’s earlier post, she said: “If you really rose by lifting others and you’re asking for 1 meter publicly then your boys are ungrateful. Make all of una lock up. Poor things”.
