Veteran Nollywood actor, Clem Ohameze is begging for prayers as he is set to undergo a surgery. The actor in a viral video noted that he had an accident sometime back and was taken to the hospital. However, it was realized that his lower limb was affected.

The result of an x-ray showed that his cervical vertebrae 3 had collapsed on 4 and it was causing a pressure on his spinal cord thereby causing the retardment of the lower limb.

According to Mr. Ohameze, he was treated for a while and got better but later noticed that he had some difficulty walking after a while.

Another scan showed that the actor has to go through a procedural surgery to separate the cervical vertebrae three from four, thereby freeing the cord and restoring it back. The award winning actor disclosed that he was a little hesitant to undergo the surgery but now “I have no choice”.

“After they showed me the procedure and how it’s been done, I was scared. I was told that they are going to cut open the neck and physically separate the cervical vertebrae three from four and then use an iron plate to hold it with some screws so it can remain permanent. It was scary but I have no choice”.

Two decades in the movie industry

Clem Ohameze, a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, is a Nigerian actor with two decades in acting.  Clem Ohameze started professional acting in 1995. But his breakthrough role was in 1998 when he featured in a big-budget movie, ‘ENDTIME’.

Clem briefly broke away from acting between 2006 and 2010 to pursue other interests including politics. In his political career, Ohameze stood for election to represent Ohaji-Egbema-Oguta Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007.

The actor however, abandoned the pursuit over allegations of threat to his life. His car was attacked, his cousin was shot and killed during the incident. This forced Ohameze to relocate to London, United Kingdom.

He has since returned to his movie career after the break. In 2010, Ohameze starred in the award-winning movie , ‘Ije’: The Journey alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.

The actor said he initially thought they were #EndSARS protesters but when they saw him in his car and identified him, they attacked him.

“It happened in Uyo. The protesters, I ran into them. On recognizing me, they just didn’t want to bother. They took everything away from me,” the actor explained.

Clem Ohameze has featured in over 500 movies in his 20-year career spanning 1995 to date and is set to feature in many more movies in the coming months until his sudden ailment.  Nigerians and his fans all over the world are therefore, encouraged to continue to remember him in their prayers as he undergoes the surgery. Hopefully, he will return to the movie scene to feature in some more interesting movies to entertain and educate movie lovers across the globe.
