Wa West MP describes “Fake” Adwoa Safo in Parliament as Criminal

Wa MP suggests highest form of punishment for arrested security officers

Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West, Peter Toobu

Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has described as highly criminal the alleged smuggling of a “fake” Adwoa Sarfo in to Parliament, especially as it was used by the Majority caucus to approve the 2022 budget.

According to him, the act by the majority is an impersonation and contrary to section 134 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960. He stated that the action only seeks to destroy Ghana’s democracy.

“This is a serious matter and anyone who saw the video of the said Adwoa Safo on Tuesday will say there was something just not right. It is surprising to see that the Majority thought they were in trouble and needed a single person to change the vote. What the majority has done is highly criminal”.

Peter Lanchene Toobu

Mr. Toobu posited that because the majority wanted to change the destiny of Ghana and move it to a dark place, they got a fake person and surprisingly Adwoa Safo also came to Parliament the next day to say she was present in the House the day before.

This, he indicated, doesn’t sit well with the minority because they know otherwise, noting that its leadership wishes to investigate the case.

Mr. Toobu’s comments follow the Minority in Parliament’s argument that the Majority caucus smuggled into the House a fake Sarah Adwoa Safo, to secure them the approval of the 2022 budget.

Ghanaians can prove it wasn’t Adwoa Safo

Believing Ghanaians are observant with great investigation skills comparable to the Police Service, Mr. Toobu indicated that should investigations be left to Ghanaians, “they will all come back to tell you the person in Parliament on Tuesday was not Adwoa Safo“.

“Even Chameleons cannot change in the way she did on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ghanaians know the Adwoa Safo we know was not in Parliament on Tuesday. “

Peter Lanchene Toobu

The politician revealed it was quite easy to present evidence to prove Adwoa Safo was not in Parliament on Tuesday when the Majority caucus approved the 2022 budget “and even some member of the NPP can present evidence to support this.”

He averred that if there is the need to hand over the case to the Police, it will be willing to do so. He stated that if what has happened turns out to be true, then it is destroying the country’s democracy.

Minister of State at the Ministry of Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Tano-North Constituency, Hon. Freda Prempeh has, however, kicked against claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo was impersonated in Parliament on Tuesday, 30th November, 2021.

The minister shared that on Tuesday, she met with the MP, spoke to her and asked how the family was faring. She then described the NDC’s allegations as “petty” and a means to divert attention from the substantive matter.

Above all, the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has debunked allegations that she was not present in Parliament on Tuesday 30th November 2022 for the approval of the 2022 budget.
