Samantha Meghan Markle crowned ‘the most intelligent British royal’ in new study

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has been announced as the “most intelligent member of the British royal family”, according to a new study released by Oxford Royale.

The education company analyzed the academic credentials of the “blue-blooded family members”, looking at their high school results and the rankings of the colleges that they attended.

Oxford Royale used the QS World University Rankings, which rates colleges based on their academic reputation and faculty-to-student ratio, as part of their analysis.

Meghan, who is 40 years old took out top spot, given that she graduated from the elite Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The Duchess, according to the education company holds a double degree in theater and international relations from the prestigious college, which is placed at number 30 on the QS World Rankings for 2021.

A spokesperson for Oxford Royale commented on the findings as he said: “Life as a royal isn’t always an easy job and involves a lot of dealing with extensive scrutiny and life in the public spotlight, and Meghan Markle’s academic strengths have equipped her perfectly for this role.

“While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned from their roles as working royals, they have captured the interest and attention of the world, and Meghan’s desire to use her platform to raise awareness over serious world issues reflects her intelligence, analytical mind and educational pedigree”.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, came in as the second most intelligent royal in the study.

According to the education company, “the brainy brunette”, who is 39 years old, attended high school at the private Marlborough College in Wiltshire, England, where she attained three A-levels in her final year of school. She scored A grades in math and art, and a B in English. The A-levels are subjects studied by British students in their final two years of school, and are needed for entrance into college. The better a student scores on an A-level, the more likely they are to be granted entry to an elite university.

She went on to study at the University of St. Andrews, which ranks at number 91 on the QS World Rankings.

Prince William was declared the third most intelligent royal, having also studied at St. Andrews. However, Kate was considered smarter than the future king, since she outperformed him in the A-level exams. William scored an A in geography, a B in art and a C in biology during his final year of high school.

However, William’s brother, Prince Harry, didn’t make Oxford Royale’s top 10 list. According to reports, the renegade royal only attained two A-levels in high school; scoring a B in art and D in geography. He did not attend college.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced they are expecting their second child. The couple, who live in the US where the baby is likely to be born, have shared a black and white picture of themselves, sitting under a tree, with Prince Harry resting his hand on Meghan's head as she lay in his lap cradling her bump. A spokesperson for the pair said: "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child." Meanwhile, the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the whole Royal Family are "delighted" and "wish them well", according to a Buckingham Palace spokesman. The news of Meghan's pregnancy comes after the duchess suffered a miscarriage last July. Meghan, revealed her heartbreak in November in a deeply personal article for the New York Times, writing: "I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second." The duchess was widely praised by charities for sending a powerful message to others who have lived through the same trauma by speaking about the issue. Harry and Meghan's new baby boy or girl will be eighth in line to the throne, just behind their son, one-year-old Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. The couple have been hoping for a sibling for him. In 2019, Harry said he would only have two children for the sake of the planet. The pair, who were married at Windsor Castle in May 2018, quit their roles as senior working royals in March 2020 as they sought financial freedom. They are no longer actively using their ‘His/Her Royal Highness’ (HRH) titles and now live in Montecito, California. Harry, retained his place as sixth in the line of succession despite giving up royal life. The new baby is allowed to be a Lord or a Lady, but, in keeping with Harry and Meghan's wishes, will be a Master, like Archie, or Miss (first name) Mountbatten-Windsor instead. Meanwhile, the news of a second child for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex brings with it the likelihood that this baby will be born in the United States of America. That notwithstanding, it brings up some constitutional advantages to the unborn baby should the birth take place in the United States. Birth in America will confer citizenship upon the new child, who will also be 8th in line of succession to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, along with 15 other nations, including Canada. Interestingly, the infant could potentially qualify to be both a sovereign, by accession, and also be free to run for the presidency of the United States. This will be the first significant child to be born to the British Royal Family in the United States.

The royal family has not publicly responded to the new study. Meanwhile, a number of William and Harry’s famous cousins made the top 10 list.

Princess Eugenie ranked in the fourth spot, while her sister Princess Beatrice came in at number 10. The Queen’s other grandchildren Peter Phillips and Zara Phillips were placed at numbers 5 and 6 respectively.

Lady Kitty Spencer, who is the niece of Princess Diana, is the only royal in the top 10 with a master’s degree. The 30-year-old blonde holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and a master’s in luxury brand management from the European Business School in London. She placed eighth in the study.
