NPP Will Lose in Next Elections With Dr Bawumia as Candidate- Rashid Pelpuo

Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, MP for Wa Central

Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, has stated that the current Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia cannot lead NPP to victory in the 2024 general elections, because the NPP government has failed Ghanaians.

Mr Pelpuo explained that because Dr Bawumia is part of the current leadership “that has consistently proven to be a failure, incompetence and lack foresight about governance.”

The Wa Central lawmaker called on the leadership of the NPP to rather consider another candidate who is not Dr Bawumia.

“Ghanaians now know that the NPP has failed. They should mark time and come back again with another candidate in future who is not with the current leadership, not with Bawumia.

“If you go to any community, call any young man and ask him whether the NPP (New Patriotic Party) government has done well or not, they would say, they better go.”

Rashid Hassan Pelpuo

Rashid Pelpuo recalled that before Dr Bawumia became Vice President, he stated that there was no need for Ghana to borrow because the country is rich and has enough resources. Nonetheless, he added that few years after they came to power, they borrowed more than the Mahama led government.

“They thought that by going to borrow so much, they could do so much. They borrowed that much and did very little with it. So, we do not know what they are going to do now with the few years they have left to be in power.”

John Mahama to Lead the NDC

According to the MP, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is 100 percent ready to take back the leadership of the country with ex-President John Dramani Mahama as its leader.

Mr Pelpuo noted that should John Mahama lead the next government, it will not be a trial-and-error kind of experience like that of the Nana Addo – Bawumia led administration.

“We have had him [John Mahama] before; we have had the experience before. It is not going to be a trial-and-error kind of experience like the current administration”.

Rashid Hassan Pelpuo

The Wa Central Member of Parliament stated that the “NDC has done it before and still has the men and very good policies to do it again.”

“We would be able to perform the function much more effectively.”

NPP Cannot Break The Eight-Year Rule Without Dr Bawumia

That notwithstanding, George Yaw Akanlo, Upper East Regional Chairman of ‘Friends of Bawumia (FOB)’, asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot break the eight-year rule jinx in Ghana without Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its Flagbearer in 2024.

The Chairman of the association noted that Dr Bawumia has defended the Party, stood the test of time, and is the most qualified and experienced to take over from President Akufo-Addo to continue the development agenda of the country.

“Since 1992, the elections had clearly shown that after eight years, a different government is elected. So if there is ever any opportunity to break that eight-year rule, the only person that presents us that opportunity is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.”
