After several days of anticipation from fans and social media users, American rapper, Chance The Rapper, and Ghanaian ace rapper, Sarkodie have finally decided to set a meet-up.
Chance the rapper was welcomed to Ghana about a week now and has been meeting up with some artists in Ghana. He has already been spotted with Manifest in the company of fellow American compatriot, Vic Mensa. However, in the late hours of Sunday, January 9, 2022, Chance, known in real life as Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, got social media talking when he tweeted his final wish as his visit to the country comes to an end.
Though Chance was already having the time of his life in Ghana, he felt an interaction with Sarkodie will be the icing on his cake.
“I’ve done everything in Ghana except meet @sarkodie”, Chance tweeted.

Sarkodie was tagged in the post by several fans just to draw his attention to it. However, it seemed Sarkodie was ‘missing in action on social media as of that time. Sarkodie later responded to Chance’s post today, Monday, January 10, 2022. According to the ‘No Fugazy’ crooner, he is looking forward to meeting Chance The Rapper as soon as possible.
Sarkodie in response to Chance tweeted, “We are linking up before you get on that plane”.
From the interaction, it is clear that the duo will be together at some point in time. However, fans are already upbeat about a possible collaboration on a song. Some fans noted that hopefully this year, through Sarkodie’s meet-up with Chance, he may win the Grammy because Chance is a Grammy award-winning artist.
Others reacting to the latest development noted that Sarkodie is the benchmark when it comes to music in Ghana therefore, they are not surprised that “Chance the Rapper wants to meet with the king”.
Chance The rapper connects with his African roots
Chance the rapper being in Ghana is no mere coincidence as the rapper, who traces his roots to Ghana, made a post suggesting his intention to visit the country in 2019.
Moreover, in 2019, at the height of the ‘Year of Return’ campaign, Sarkodie, after winning the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip-hop Awards, urged people in the diaspora to visit Ghana.

“This year is the Year of Return, and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home. When you’re coming to Africa, choose Ghana”.
Sarkodie
Following Sarkodie’s speech, Chance The Rapper tweeted, “Year Of The Return #Ghana #HipHopAwards19”.
However, with the emergence of Covid 19, it was impossible for the rapper to travel to Ghana the following year. After waiting for two years, Chance the rapper finally found himself in Ghana some few days ago.
Currently, the rapper seems to be having a very good time in Ghana. Being his first visit to the country, Chance reconnected with his roots and visited a church in Accra that his great grandmother helped in establishing.
In a post on his Instagram stories, Chance wrote on a video he captured in the church stating: “This Bishop Nkansah, he knew my great grandmother”.

In another post, Chance The Rapper revealed that his great grandfather was a pan Africanist and captain under Marcus Garvey. That wasn’t all, the Chicago rapper later shared an image of a school and wrote “they [great grandparents] built this school in Jamestown as well”.
Meanwhile, it is yet to be known who Chance The Rapper’s great grandparents are, as he hasn’t given much information about them yet.
