Majid Michael has stunned his fans with some surprising disclosure regarding his life as he revealed that he used to "do drugs" until he chose to change some friends in his life

Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel has stunned his fans with some surprising disclosure regarding his life as he revealed that he used to “do drugs” until he chose to change some friends in his life.

In an interview, the actor who is now an evangelist explained that it was “narcotics, hard drugs and not regular drugs that are used to treat illness”. He further explained that it was his circle of friends who influenced his life and nearly wrecked his life due to drugs and alcohol addiction.

Based on Majid Michel’s experience with “bad friends“, he advised all and sundry to be cautious about who they choose as friends: “Friends are critical. Be careful in choosing them because those you associate with play a role in how your life turns out. Maybe you may not be as lucky as I was to get out of it, so don’t give it a chance”.

Being an evangelist suggests that Majid Michel has a calling and duty to be in church most of the time. However, the narrative is quite different with Majid Michel as he disclosed in the interview that he doesn’t like going to church. According to the actor, he “hates” waking up early to get ready for church service.

“I have never liked going to church. I am not a churchgoer because I hate waking up in the morning. Since I was young, my siblings teased me about it. [When] I was in church, I am like ‘mum I want to eat bread and egg’. It [the service] is too early and I never ever in my entire life enjoyed church, and I still don’t”.

Majid further speaking on the issue disclosed that another reason he didn’t like going to church was that he sometimes didn’t understand what was being taught at the church. According to Majid, the challenge of not understanding the sermon created a hunger to gain understanding and that was how he had an encounter that changed his life.

Majid explained that it was not until his encounter with a pastor at the Action Chapel in Dansoman that he began to understand many teachings. That was when he was able to even have a covenant with God among many other things.  He posited that “The pastor was an anchor in my life at the moment”.

Touching on his acting career, the actor noted that his interest currently lies in acquiring knowledge about the things of God and not acting. According to him, one of his goals was to feature in Hollywood movies and be on set with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but that dream has now changed. However he was quick to note that his interest in acting can be regenerated if need be, but currently, he is focused on the things of God and how to acquire the knowledge he needs to do the work of God.

“The thrill for acting has just left. It moved to knowledge in the things of God. It was a hunger for knowledge that led me to have the encounter which changed my life”.
