Ghanaian musician, Stonebwoy, has shared his thoughts on what he thinks has destroyed the Black Stars of Ghana to the point that they don’t look appealing to Ghanaians anymore.

Stonebwoy’s comments come after the Black Stars failed to qualify to the next round of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which is currently ongoing in Cameroon. The Black Stars clinched the last position in its group that had Morocco, Gabon, and Comoros. Several people couldn’t believe that with such teams in the group, the Black Stars couldn’t make leeway to qualify to the next stage of the AFCON. What made things worse was the fact that they were beaten by Comoros, 3 goals to 2. Many Ghanaians shared their thoughts about the game.

In reaction to the defeat, Stonebwoy noted that gone are the days where Ghanaians will go on the street and celebrate the victory of the Black Stars when they win a match. He noted that people were even willing to give items they were selling for free just because they were jubilating.

Stonebwoy even though wasn’t happy about the performance of the team congratulated the players for their work so far. However, he emphasized that the reason for the low performance of the Black Stars is because of “football politics”.

“How I miss those days. When the #blackstars win, the whole country will just go out and jubilate all night. People will release things ‘falaaa’. Town Sweet, Cars tooting horns, flags flying high, etc. Well done players, I’m sure the football POLITICS is what has broken the team down to this level”.

According to the actress, the Black Stars almost always concedes defeat easily and lose hope very quickly. She noted that the key to winning is confidence. However, according to her, the team didn’t seem to have any.

Lydia Forson made this known in a post on Twitter, as she wrote: “I love Black Stars, always will, but there’s a fundamental problem with our team, especially when they’re down. This defeatist attitude is so bad! Confidence plays a huge role in football and we don’t seem to have any”.

Another person who also joined the conversation to react to the performance of the Black Stars was the controversial musician, Shatta Wale. Shatta Wale in a series of Twitter posts ridiculed the Black Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac. Making reference to the popular milo beverage, Shatta Wale in one of his posts said: “Without a cup, what’s the use of milo?”

Several social media reactions suggest that Ghanaians were very disappointed by the performance of the Black Stars to the extent that, they started giving their support to Comoros, their opponent. According to some social media users, they have had enough of the “heartbreak” the Black Stars been giving them for years now.

Well, the Black Stars are now out of the AFCON tournament and Ghanaians are ready to welcome them back home.
