NPP Hasn’t Failed To Caution Members Campaigning For 2024 Leadership- Freddie Blay

National Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Freddie Blay

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has intimated that the party is on course in breaking the 8 year cycle of ruling the nation.

Commenting on if the party is under pressure to “break the 8” by winning the 2024 elections, he noted that was not the case.

“On the contrary, we are on top of it. It is interesting as I have told you from the beginning that the enthusiasm is that high. You could see the kind of criticisms and people making it look as if the party is not doing well and government is not doing well too. Government is doing very well.”

Freddie Blay

Freddie Blay, however, asserted that when people are disgruntled, it creates a little pressure which the party will “smoothly take off”. The Party Chairman stated that he disagrees with the assertion that the reduced number of NPP parliamentarians stems from its previous primaries’ elections problems.

Freddie Blay stated that the party encountered quite a number of problems but that did not account for the numbers they have in Parliament.

“Definitely, it is a misconception that what is happening- that is with the number in Parliament is as a result of the few problems that we are encountered with, in terms of the primaries leading to the 2020 elections.”

Freddie Blay stated that it could be a factor and not the main cause because, the party did not encounter very serious problems because as a result of the party being irresponsible as to what the process was about during the primaries.

“I think we did very well, quite well. But there were quite few problems here and there… even those problems were not because;we were preventing people from getting the people to put themselves up as contestants. I will not agree with the idea of primaries leading to the problems we are encountering now.”

Resolving party issues

Touching on how the current issues of the party when resolved can influence the future, Freddie Blay averred that there is a linkage between the solutions provided now with regards to what lies ahead.

“Polling station elections are basic and a fundamental towards other elections that would hold at the constituency, regional and national level.”

Freddie Blay indicated that the party is doing everything possible through laid down rules and setting up of committees to resolve the current issue the party is facing with its polling station executives process.

“We’ve put up a very dependable group of people. 9 per each constituency all over the country to take care of this. Of course there will be some people who will not stick to the rules and step out of line.”

Freddie Blay

Freddie Blay iterated his caution to members who step out of line, to be sanctioned if need be. He noted that anybody that will be deprived of access to forms to file as contestant should not be disturbed because steps are being taken to rectify those anomalies.

The Party chairman indicated that any constituency that does not stick to the application process for the polling station executives elections, will be prevented from holding elections in that regard.
