Filmmaker and Director of ‘Black panther’, Ryan Coogler, found himself in trouble after a bank staffer mistakenly thought he was staging a robbery.

According to an Atlanta police report, obtained by TMZ, Coogler was detained after stopping in a Bank of America to make a legal transaction however the teller mistook Ryan’s intention.

Per reports, Coogler walked in wearing shades and a COVID face mask and then handed a withdrawal slip that had a note written on the back to the teller.

According to sources, Ryan wrote on the withdrawal slip: “I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet”.

Considering the amount of money Ryan was withdrawing, the teller couldn’t understand why he wanted it to be discreet and this led to the teller thinking something suspicious was going on. Owing to this, the teller called the cops, and the famed director ended up in handcuffs, briefly.

When officers arrived, they detained two people waiting outside for Ryan in an SUV and then went in and brought the director himself out in handcuffs.

After an investigation, the police realized it was all just a huge mistake and the fault lies with the BoA employee, who was described in the report as a “pregnant Black woman”.

According to the report, when the teller went to make the transaction on her computer, it triggered some sort of an alert. So, she told her boss Coogler was attempting to rob the bank, and they called 911.

Meanwhile, it seems Ryan wasn’t too pleased about the whole incident. According to reports, Ryan was heard asking for the badge numbers of all the responding officers once everyone was released.

Fans of ‘Black Panther’ Request Recast of T’Challa Ryan coogler

Speaking about the sequel Ryan directs, it can be recalled that with the sequel plagued by rumors and backlash about star, Leticia Wright’s purported anti-vaxxer views, Marvel fans proposed a controversial way to refocus everyone’s attention, by recasting the late Chadwick Boseman’s  role.

That would mean breaking Marvel’s vow to not cast another T’Challa following the actor’s tragic death.

Giving strong reasons for recasting the main character, one fan wrote: “All due respect to Mr. Boseman and his loved ones, but the death of an actor does not spell the end of the character he portrayed. T’Challa is not Chadwick and vice versa. Rather, Chadwick portrayed a man who strove to improve the world. Anyone can be that”.

One supporter even posted an old interview with the ’21 Bridges’ star, suggesting that Boseman himself supported the idea of someone else adopting the ‘Black Panther’ mantle.

However, some ‘Black Panther’ fans noted that the idea is an insult to the memory of Boseman.

“Very disrespectful to Boseman!” said one Boseman fan. “He was the biggest of a few spotlights in an otherwise mediocre movie, which on the comic book scale means it was good enough to make a billion dollars. He made the character, in the movie, iconic!”

Another argued that recasting the star would be “an underestimation of the deep appeal of Chadwick Boseman on his own, let alone as this iconic, admirable character”.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether Marvel would ever break their promise to never recast T’chala in the movie, which is slated to hit theatres in November 2022.
