Inflation Rose For The Ninth Consecutive Month To 15.7% In February 2022

National year-on-year inflation continues its mounting trend, rising for the ninth consecutive month to record 15.7% in February 2022. February’s inflation rate was 1.8 percentage points higher than the 13.9% recorded in January 2022 and it’s driven mainly by three sub-divisions.

Month-on-month inflation between January 2022 and February 2022 was 2.4%, up from 2.1 percent in the previous month. This is the highest monthly inflation rate since April 2020 (3.2%).

According to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) Newsletter released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, three Divisions (Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels; Transport, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages) recorded inflation rates above the national average of 15.7%. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels recorded the highest inflation rate of 25.4% in the second month of 2022.
