The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has promoted Ghana’s investment opportunities at the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum in New Alamein City, Egypt, as the country intensifies efforts to attract foreign capital, strengthen industrial development and expand regional trade.
Ghana’s participation focused on positioning key sectors of the economy for international partnerships while highlighting the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to support cross-border investment and regional value chains.
The forum, organised by the Government of Egypt in collaboration with the African Union and Afreximbank, brought together stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities and strategies for advancing economic cooperation across Africa.
President John Dramani Mahama delivered a keynote address on the theme, “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains,” highlighting the role of healthcare investment in job creation, industrial development and economic stability.

GIPA Targets Foreign Investment Partnerships
The Head of GIPA’s Marketing and Communications Division, Ms. Afua Tekyi-Mills led the team to engage on investment opportunities available in Ghana.
The discussions covered agro-processing, manufacturing, real estate, healthcare and tourism, sectors with potential to attract private capital, support enterprise growth and create employment.
The engagements formed part of Ghana’s broader investment promotion efforts, which seek to connect international investors with domestic businesses and projects.
By presenting opportunities across multiple industries, GIPA aimed to encourage investors to assess Ghana’s business environment and identify areas where their capital, technical expertise and commercial networks could contribute to economic development.

Agro-processing and manufacturing featured prominently in the investment discussions because of their potential to expand local production, improve value addition and create stronger links between primary producers and industrial enterprises.
Investment in these sectors can help businesses move beyond the export of raw materials towards the production of processed goods with greater commercial value.
Real estate and tourism provided additional avenues for engagement with investors seeking opportunities in infrastructure, property development, hospitality and related services.
“The GIPA team engaged prospective investors on opportunities in agro-processing, manufacturing, real estate, healthcare and tourism.”

GIPA also invited participants to the maiden Invest Ghana Summit, an initiative intended to showcase investment opportunities and foster strategic partnerships.
The summit is expected to provide a platform for connecting prospective investors with Ghanaian businesses and other stakeholders interested in developing commercially viable projects.
Invest Ghana Summit to Advance Engagement
GIPA’s participation in the Alamein Africa Forum reflects the importance of international engagement in identifying potential investors and promoting Ghana’s economic opportunities. Beyond presenting the country’s investment prospects, the authority’s meetings provided an avenue for businesses to explore partnerships that could translate discussions into commercial activity.
The participation of Ghanaian health-sector companies in the engagement with the Export Council for Medical Industries was particularly relevant to this objective. Their interaction with counterparts created opportunities to assess areas of mutual interest and explore potential business relationships.
For these engagements to produce measurable economic benefits, prospective partnerships will need to progress towards practical arrangements, including investment commitments, commercial agreements, technology cooperation and clearly defined implementation plans.
A continued dialogue between businesses and investment institutions will be important in identifying projects that can attract capital and contribute to domestic production.
The maiden Invest Ghana Summit is expected to provide another opportunity to advance these discussions by bringing investment opportunities and potential partners into a common platform.

Healthcare Manufacturing and AfCFTA
A key component of Ghana’s participation was a meeting between the GIPA team and the Export Council for Medical Industries to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration in the healthcare sector.

The discussions focused on areas where Ghanaian and international businesses could establish partnerships, exchange expertise and identify opportunities for investment in medical industries.
The engagements are important for developing commercial relationships that can support local production, improve market access and strengthen industrial capacity.
Healthcare manufacturing presents opportunities beyond the provision of medical services. It can support the development of production facilities, distribution networks, technical skills and associated industries.

The AfCFTA was central to these discussions because it provides a framework for expanding trade among African countries. By promoting a larger continental market, the agreement offers businesses opportunities to explore new customers, develop regional partnerships and expand beyond their national markets.
As African economies seek to deepen economic integration, Ghana’s participation in the Alamein Africa Forum provides an opportunity to strengthen its visibility among international investors and advance discussions on cross-border commercial cooperation.
