The alleged killer of SuperTV boss, Chidinma Ojukwu, has emerged as a beauty queen in prison after being crowned Miss Cell 2022.

The level 300 mass communication student of the University of Lagos participated in a beauty pageant held at Kirikiri Correctional Facility, Lagos.

A social media user, Otunba Sesan Limelite, who made the report in a Facebook post, disclosed that the event was to mark International Women’s Day.  He also shared photos from the occasion where other female inmates competed with Chidinma in different activities.

Netizens in a Frenzy

The latest information has currently set netizens in a frenzy as they condemned the event.

One netizen, under the user name @sandraikeji, who was in shock said: “So, she was dressed in a beautiful robe and adorned with a crown on her head and some beautiful flowers with a peaceful smile in prison to mark IWD? I rest my case”.

Another netizen, @_meche9127_ noted that for somebody that confessed to killing another, it is quite alarming that the person is now being entertained in the cell. According to this netizen, if she is eventually freed, “she will kill 20 more and believe nothing will happen”.

However, @jacksparrow263, who was of a different view, argued that people shouldn’t be surprised about the Beauty Pageant because the cell is a Correctional Facility. According to @jacksparrow263, “They’re not just locked up like fowls with nothing to do. They allow them to live life to a certain extent”.

Chidinma Pleaded Not Guilty to the Murder

In October 2021, Chidinma Ojukwu pleaded not guilty to the accusation of killing Super TV Chief Executive Officer, Usifo Ataga.

The 22-year-old pleaded not guilty with her co-defendant, Adedapo Quadri, before the presiding Judge, Yetunde Adesanya, of the Lagos State High Court.

They were prosecuted by the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution on eight counts bordering on murder, forgery, and stealing. They were also arraigned alongside Chidinma’s sister, Egbuchu Chioma, from whom the late Ataga’s iPhone 7 was recovered.

Chioma, however, pleaded not guilty to the 9th count of being in possession of the stolen property.

Ojukwu was arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police command after Ataga was found dead in an apartment in the Lekki area of the state last year.

According to the police, the suspect, who fled the scene of the crime, had earlier checked in with the deceased into the apartment days before he was brutally murdered. Chidinma Ojukwu

When she was paraded by the police in June, the level 300 student of the University of Lagos revealed she killed him while trying to force himself on her. She sought forgiveness, saying she did not want to die. However, later, Ojukwu denied knowing anything about Ataga’s death.

“I didn’t injure anybody. I don’t know who must have come into the apartment and did that… I don’t know who that person is. I don’t know what happened. I did not kill him”.

She, however, admitted that they spent time together, drinking and smoking before he died. Ojukwu claimed that she was not inside the apartment at the time he was killed.

The 22-year-old further revealed that Ataga was having issues with his wife and was not in a happy marriage, as it was more of catering for his kids. She also described the deceased as someone who got angry quickly and was always busy.
