Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif

Black Sherif’s rise in the music circles continues to soar considering his unique songwriting abilities and great vocals, something that has found him traversing musical borders.

After the release of the ‘First and Second Sermon’, Black Sherif came out with another hit, ‘Kwaku the Traveller’, a single which unravels the mysteries of street life.

‘Kwaku the Traveller’, after hitting streaming sites, started making waves beyond the borders of Ghana. The song currently debuts at number 76 on Apple Music’s Top 100 Global. Black Sherif surpassed J.Cole’s ‘No Role Modelz’, Drake’s ‘Wants and Needs’, Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Good 4 U’, and Doja Cat’s ‘Women’.

This came just few days after he made history as the first solo artist from Ghana to reach number one on Nigeria’s Top 100 Chart on Apple Music.

Currently, Black Sherif has nine songs on Ghana’s Apple Music Top 100 Chart. ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ leads the chart at number one. ‘Second Sermon’, ‘Frist Sermon’, and ‘Second Sermon Remix’ are also on the chart. The others that are on the chart are ‘Always’, ‘Goldigga’, ‘Yard’, ‘Abotr3’ and ‘Holy F4k’. They are songs he has been featured on.

That is not all, ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ has earned Black Sherif the number one spot on YouTube’s trending music list. The audio-video has garnered over half a million views on YouTube.

Motivation Behind Black Sherif’s ‘Kweku the Traveller’

Opening up on the motivation behind the song, Black Sherif revealed in an interview that he wanted to highlight some challenges the youth face on the street through his story. He stated that many of his references in ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ were only to show he does not let his struggles and mistakes hinder his goal. Black Sherif noted that he is happy the song has generated different conversations on social media.

It is worth noting that Black Sherif’s ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ demonstrates his artistry in churning out some mind-blowing lyrics which resonate with every young or old person. The chorus of the song would reverberate with anyone trying to make positive strides in life but faces some challenges, yet remains persistent in achieving his or her set target in life.

Black Sherif has often been criticized for his line of lyrics in the past but the lyrical flow in ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ certainly deserves some commendation considering the motivation it carries.

The journey to musical stardom has just started for the 21-year-old and it seems the singer has a very promising future of putting Ghana on the global music map.

Meanwhile, music lovers are now awaiting Black Sherif’s debut album; something he says would be released later in the year. Knowing Black Sherif and how he exerts energy and passion for his songs, his debut album is sure to be on ‘fire’.
