Black Sherif Slammed With Lawsuit

An Accra High Court will rule on the fate of the hottest Ghanaian artist at the moment, Black Sherif, on May 9,2022, as he has been sued by the CEO of Waynes Chavis Consult, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, for an alleged breach of contract.

According to reports, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, who is also known as Snap, filed this suit against Black Sherif based on the claim that the artist “abandoned” him after he invested in his career.

Shadrach filed the writ praying the court to grant him some relieves. He is seeking an injunction to be placed on Black Sherif, restricting him from playing at any event until the case has been resolved. In addition, he has requested the court to order all funds accrued from the artiste’s online streams to be preserved. He also wants a receiver to be taking the proceeds of all funds that will be accrued from any activity that Black Sherif engages in.

All of this was contained in the writ of summons to which Black Sherif and his lawyers are required to respond to within 8 days.

Background of the Story

Several weeks ago, news broke out that Black Sherif signed a distribution deal with Empire, an American distribution company and record label. Few days later, concerns came from the camp of his supposed manager, who claimed that the artist had signed the deal without his knowledge. According tp some sources, the contract between Black Sherif and this investor requires that his investor, Shadrach, is made aware of every activity Black Sherif carries out.

The fast-rising artist faced public wrath after the information of him signing on another record label without the knowledge of his former supposed Manager became public. When the issue reached the court of public opinion, many people backlashed the young musician for his actions. However, the current Manager of Black Sherif, Madonna, in an interview dismissed the claims.

Madona explained that Snap, who is accusing Black Sherif of leaving him, was only a financier who came on board after the release of ‘Second Sermon’.

‘Kwaku The Traveller’, response to Investor?

This is happening at a time Black Sherif is becoming the most sought-after artist around the world because of the tremendous heights his song ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ has reached.

In April, Black Sherif released ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ to some exciting reviews. Meanwhile, some social media users have wondered if Black Sherif’s new song was a response to some allegations made against him by his investor.

However, Black Sherif dismissed speculations that his new single ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ was written to respond to the controversies surrounding his management. According to him, the song was written and recorded weeks before he was criticized for allegedly leaving his investor, to sign with another label.

Speaking in an interview, Black Sherif noted that “I wrote this song two weeks before January 24, 2022. I teased it on social media”.

Black Sherif stated that when writing the song, he only wanted to tell the story of struggling youth working continuously hard to fend for themselves.
