The Prestea Police Commander, William Jabialu, has disclosed that the murder suspects of the 16-year old Junior High School Graduate, Musah Issaka, have been arrested.

Speaking about the unfortunate incident, the Police Commander indicated that the alleged murder suspects were three in number. He disclosed that they have been arraigned before court and will be made to reappear on May 31, 2022 for further action to be taken on the matter.

“We happened to pick up suspects who engaged Musah Issaka who is now deceased. So, three suspects connived to murder the young man.”

Narrating the facts of the case, the Police Commander stated that there was a reported case of a missing 16-year old young man called Musah Issaka who was operating an Okada business which they acted on. He stated that the first suspect who is called Kingsley (Rasta) 18 years old, contracted the deceased to convey him to his village called Mahaa. On reaching there, his other two colleagues attacked and murdered the deceased and sold the motorbike to the first suspect Kingsley at an amount of GHS2,000.

“The careful investigation led to the arrest of the first suspect and the subsequent investigations also led to the arrest of the two other accomplishes namely; Enoch Yeboah, 22 years and Tetteh Adjokey 31 years. These two were arrested at Fure in the Bono Region with the assistance of the Brong Ahafo Police.”

Murder not for ‘galamsey’ ritual purposes

Commander Jabialu further falsified claims of the murder being for ritual purposes by some some ‘galamsey’ operators. He indicated that per the investigations, information of that sort did not come up.

The Commander noted that the information gathered so far indicate that the deceased and the suspects were friends. “The first suspect carefully engaged him to convey him to the village where he was murdered. So, he was in the course of doing his Okada business when he was attacked.”

This report came after the Kusaasi Chief at Prestea, Nana Salifu, alerted the township that the 16-year old Musa Issaka had gone missing. According to the Chief, the deceased had returned to his father at Prestea after completing his Junior High School education in Garu Tempane to work and mobilize some money to support his Senior High School education.

Nana Salifu stated that the deceased who worked as an Okada (Motor) Rider went missing for a while and so they decided to search for him when his younger sister informed them that a certain guy by name Rasta contracted the deceased to drop him at his village and that was the last time he was seen.

The Prestea Chief averred that this propelled the Okada Riders to mount a manhunt for Rasta. He disclosed upon arrival at the suspects house, blood stains were on his veranda as such, the riders went to the police station to lodge a complaint since he had run away.

However, the police managed to arrest Rasta at Sampa Boarder in the Bono Region when he was trying to sneak out of the country. The suspect then confessed that he did not kill the boy but was only contracted by some guys to bring the deceased which he did but he was not given the full amount of money they promised him.
