According to the movie producer, he accepts the blame for anything that happened during the shooting of the ‘Okomfo Anokye’ Movie, because he directed the movie. He emphasized that he will not blame anyone for all that happened, adding that “all that I want to tell my brother Agya Koo is to forgive me so that we can work as a team to strengthen the pillars of the Kumawood Movie Industry”.

Frank Fiifi Gharbin claimed that Agya Koo and he allowed people to create confusion between them because according to him, at the time, Agya Koo was “the best actor and a legend” and he was the best director in the Kumawood Movie Industry so there were people who wanted to set them apart and destroy their bond.

We need teamwork, love, and unity to revive Kumawood Movie Industry because Ghanaians are calling for us and we cannot disappoint them”.

Background to the story

It can be recalled that Agya Koo revealed that, Director Frank Fiifi Gharbin wanted him to go naked and shoot a scene in a movie, ‘Okomfo Anokye’. However, Agya Koo refused to go naked on the scene after consultation with some elders at Manhyia Palace. Agya Koo explained that Directors and Producers in the Kumawood Movie Industry plotted against him and sidelined him from lead movie roles after refusing to go naked in the said movie.

Meanwhile, Mawule Ekpe Peter, the Public Relations Officer for the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), responded to the actor’s disclosure challenging Agya Koo to present names of movie producers who have refused to work with him.

Mr. Mawule then stated that there are still producers that want the actor’s services and would be delighted to have him on set. Mr. Mawule noted that communication between the actor and the anonymous producers was necessary for the actor to revive his career.
