Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Sista Afia has collaborated with award-winning rapper, Sarkodie, to record a song. In a video making rounds on social media

Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Sista Afia.

Ghanaian singer, Sista Afia, has revealed her much-anticipated Tamale show dubbed ‘Queen Solomon Concert’ was rocked with technical challenges and as such, could not give off her usual long-hours performance.

In a post appreciating the efforts of colleagues and rebuffing negative media reportage, she admitted that she was unable to perform for up to five minutes as the main artist of the night.

“Expectations were higher, so I don’t blame people for not seeing that hype after the concert. I couldn’t even perform for 5 minutes on stage but my love for Tamale remains, regardless”, she wrote.

Tinny Questions Mentorship in Creative Industry

The concert which was supposed to have Sista Afia on stage for two hours, only saw her perform for a few minutes. She managed to thrill fans with some of her danceable hit songs such as ‘Sika’, ‘Jeje’, ‘Weather’, ‘Slay Queen’, ‘Krokro No’, ‘You Got Nerves’, ‘Yiwani’, ‘Corner Corner’, among others.

Sis Afia showed appreciation of the love shown her by various institutions in the Northern Region. She thanked the administrators of the Northern School Of Business (NOBISCO) for recognizing her efforts and giving her an ambassadorial position for the school’s 50th anniversary which will come off in November 2022.

“Being accepted by the two universities in Tamale, specifically Tamale Technical University – TaTU and University for Development Studies – UDS, for collaboration between the creative art industry and the academia, means a lot to me as a young girl”, Sista Afia remarked.

Sista Afia Hits Back at Critics

Sista Afia was expected to perform at the 21,000 capacity Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, but according to some reports, she had only about 500 patronizers amidst a series of technical challenges. With big names like Medikal, Mr. Drew, and Lilwin, billed to perform, the event was expected to attract a large following of music enthusiasts, however, it wasn’t the case.

Per some social media critics, her inability to put Fancy Gadam and Maccasio on the bill accounted for her woes as these artists, who have great influence in Tamale, have severally filled up the stadium in each of their concerts. However, Sista Afia who didn’t agree with the critics described such arguments as an old-fashioned mentality.

“I see people saying it’s because I didn’t put Fancy or Maccasio on. That’s such a 1630 mentality and if we want to propel higher as creative arts, sometimes, we don’t have to allow such negative thoughts to stick in,” Sista Afia emphasized.

According to her “Tamale has shown me love and I’m really grateful to be here, interact with my fan base and get to explore more of their culture”.

Prior to the main event, Sista Afia disclosed that she decided to take the second edition of the ‘Queen Solomon’ concert to Tamale because of the support and love people of the Northern Region have shown her.

“I have in the past received countless messages as to when I would be performing in Tamale. It’s been years planning this concert, and am delighted it’s coming on. It is going to be one of the biggest concerts of the year, and I am poised to deliver some ruthless performance, especially having not performed on many stages over the past few months”.
