Police Deny Breaking Into The House Of Trassaco Boss

The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that police officers broke into the house of Mr Ernesto Taricone of Trassaco Limited.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 28,2022, the Police stated that “the facts are that Police conducted investigation into alleged landguard activities at Adjiriganor, a suburb of Accra which led to the arrest of five suspects; Akuribilla Annanfo, Razak Seidu, Abdulla Abdul Fatau, Baah Samuel and Francis Agbevedor and the retrieval of a Mossberg pump action gun loaded with ten rounds BB cartridges from them”.

According to the statement, the suspects will reappear in court on Tuesday after they were arranged before a circuit court last week.

“The suspects were on 26th August, 2022, arraigned before Circuit Court ‘9’, Accra on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Crime and engaging in land guard activities. They were remanded by the Court into Police custody to reappear on 30th August, 2022.

“In the course of investigation, it emerged that Mr. Morris Ian of Trasacco Limited contracted the suspects to undertake their illegal activities.  A Bench Warrant was therefore issued by the court for his arrest”.

The police further clarified the alleged unlawful entry into the residence of Mr. Ernesto Taricone and urged the public to disregard the “baseless claims”.

“The police acting on information that the suspect was at the residence of Mr. Ernesto Taricone visited the house to execute the warrant. Upon arrival at the house, the police knocked on the door and someone came to attend to them and informed them that Ian Morris was not at the residence at the time. The Police, therefore, left a message for him, Morris, to report to the police.

“Police will continue to look for him to execute the Bench Warrant. We, therefore, call on the public to disregard and treat with contempt the baseless claims of forceful entry against the police and the purported use of commandoes since the Police Service has no commandos”.

Ernesto Taricone is an industrial investor and a renowned business man, and the Executive Chairman of W.A.I.D. (West Africa Industrial Development) as well as the C.E.O. of Trasacco Valley Estate, and a shareholder of Royal Aluminium Systems Ltd.

Ernesto Taricone was born in Italy in 1948, and settled in Ghana in the late sixties. The majority of his business is focused on Ghana covering various key sections in the Ghanaian Economy; Agriculture, Mining, Forestry, Construction and Real Estate development.

Mr. Taricone is a civil engineer and has a wealth of experience in civil engineering and building construction particularly within the West African context.

Police Service launches enhanced visibility policing strategy

Meanwhile, as part of efforts to streamline the discharge of duties, the Ghana Police Service has launched a community-based policing strategy that will foster collaboration between personnel of the service and local authorities to enforce law, order and security in metropolises, municipalities and districts across the country.

Such collaboration will also enable the public to identify, prioritize and address pertinent issues of crime in their various communities.

Dubbed: “Enhanced visibility and community policing strategy”, the plan will build on past community policing experiences to enhance police operations.

The police will also intensify day and night patrols within small defined areas in various police districts and establish good relations, rapport and trust with residents of those areas.

Also, district police commanders, who will be the main drivers of the strategy, will be required to develop security and crime prevention plans with stakeholders in their respective jurisdictions.
