The Grammy Award-nominated rapper from Philadelphia is no stranger to Afrobeat as he has collaborated with fellow Afro Nation Ghana 2022 headliner Davido on the single ‘Fans Mi’ in 2015.
This Ghana debut is a long-awaited moment for both Meek Mill and his many Ghanaian fans, and makes this year’s Afro Nation all the more interesting.
This comes barely a month after Meek Mill expressed interest in performing in Africa to fans on social media before the year ends. He, however, did not specify which part of the continent he would like to visit.
I’m tryna come to Africa this December also … the first time I got locked up …. The other times didn’t fully get worked out! Who is the biggest promoters handling that! I need to perform dreams and nightmares in Africa! And all my other ish!

Earlier in the year, Mills equally tweeted about travelling to different places including Africa. In 2020, he had the support of social media users when he made an unexpected announcement about buying a house in Ghana.
The award-winning hip-hop artiste expressed his interest in buying a property in Ghana as he would not want to “dedicate my whole life to the American lifestyle I been living”. He stated that the move will help him “feel that experience with my family as another option in life!”.
AfroNation Concert in December
This year’s AfroNation Ghana takes place at Marine Drive, Black Star Square on 29th and 30th December, 2022. Founded to unite the diaspora in celebration of Black Joy, the event is back for a celebratory trip of Black culture, music, dance, good food, and so much more.
Alongside Meek Mill and Asake, an impressive array of today’s hottest names have already been revealed for the festival’s big return. Ghana’s own special guest Stonebwoy and Black Sherif are joined by Nigerian party king Davido, the legendary duo P-Square, plus Rema, Dadju, CKay, Adekunle Gold, coming together with Ghana brightest new stars Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Gyakie and Camidoh.
Among other things, AfroNation Ghana hosts all the leading ‘Amapiano’ artists like Major League DJz, Uncle Waffles, Kamo Mphela as well as DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small’s collaborative project ‘Scorpion Kings’ – bringing the hottest sounds of the South African underground to the world.
