NDC’s Headquarters Ransacked

File Photo

On October 31, 2022, the national headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was attacked by some group of people.

In a letter signed by the General Secretary, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Executive committee condemned the action calling it an act of thuggery and criminality.

“The Leadership of the NDC wish to condemn in no uncertain terms this blatant act of thuggery and criminality and will take immediate steps to involve the law enforcement agencies to deal with the miscreants and their sponsors.”

The statement revealed that the attack was perpetrated by a group of persons clad in red and fuming with rage in the early hours of Monday.

The men clad in red and black broke into the office of the Deputy General Secretary in charge of administration, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, and removed a prepaid meter. They threatened to deal with the the Deputy Secretary because according to them, she had allegedly installed a prepaid meter in her office.

The Party Leadership is poised to follow party processes to punish the saboteurs. The statement mentioned that, the Party will take steps “to identify all who entered the premises to carry out this dastardly act and to subject them to the disciplinary measures provided by the party’s constitution.”

The Group Gives Reason For Their Action

The group that carried out the operation at the NDC head office yesterday is Pro-NDC group known as the Eagle Eye Sight.

In an interview with the Press, the Leader of the group explained why they stormed the Party office.

“We’ve been coming to submit our petitions to the head office and we took notice that, there were these wires hanging around the building. The Engineers and building contractors of the office designed it in such a way that wires in here must pass underground and not around the building. As we enquired, we were told that Madam Barbara Asamoah was the one who had used her own discretion to install a meter in her office. So we want to ask the Chief administrator of this house [NDC head office], did Barbara come for any perrmit before installing this meter in her office?”

Leader, Eagle Eye Sight

According to the group leader, they embarked on this exercise because when electricity is not properly installed, it can cause fire outbreaks. As NDC members, they wouldn’t wait for the Party’s properties to catch fire before taking the necessary actions.

He added that this exercise will not be the last the group will be conducting because, “the Eagle Eye Sight is ready to fight against anyone who does anything against the NDC Party.”

Meanwhile, Eagle Eye Sight gave Barbara Serwaa Asamoah 72hours to resign. The group warned that it will take drastic actions against her should she fail to resign.
