The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has disclosed that he is ready to join the Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso, Joseph Akuerteh Tettey to protest the poor nature of roads in his constituency.

Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo .

The defeated national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has expressed his intention to re-dedicate himself towards the victory of the party in the 2024 election following his defeat to Asiedu Nketia as the Chairman of the party.

According to him, despite his loss for re-election as the chairman of the party, he is committed to helping the party build a stronger front against the opposition in the next election.

“I re-dedicate myself to the bigger task of working for victory 2024 and pledge my unalloyed commitment to work even harder for the party together with the elected National officers, and the rank and file of our great party to achieve our ultimate goal of regaining power from the NPP in 2024.”

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo

Mr Ofosu Ampofo on behalf of his team, congratulated the newly elected National Chairman and other National Executives of the party, who emerged victorious at the just-ended 10th National Delegates Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 17th December 2022. He further called on members of the party to join forces to soldier on in their quest to win the 2024 polls.

Following the numerous personality attacks leading to the elections, Mr Ofosu Ampofu recounted how the party “needlessly witnessed the worse form of inner vilification, personal attacks and public injury” to the hard-won reputation of the party. He explained that through various means of public spaces and on social media platforms, this insensitivity would inadvertently affect the NDC’s “restitution, unity and cohesion” needed to engender the collective prosecution of the party’s agenda for victory 2024.

“Let us appreciate that this victory is simply a prelude to the battle ahead of us. I pray that we quickly recover from our individual pain and dented reputation to restore our public morality so we can join forces to soldier on.”

Koku Anyidoho disappointed over Asiedu Nketiah’s win

Meanwhile, the former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has revealed that he is disappointed with the victory of Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia as the newly elected National Chair of the party.

Prior to the elections, Mr Anyidoho campaigned heavily against Mr Nketia on the basis that the party would lose the next elections with him as National Chair. But Mr Nketia defeated the incumbent national Chair Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo to occupy that post.

Commenting on this in series of tweets, Mr Anyidoho noted that “if anyone thinks I have wavered on my convictions; the victory of Asiedu-Nketiah has handed a victory baton to NPP.” That notwithstanding, Mr Asiedu Nketia has extended an olive branch to all defeated candidates in the just-ended National Delegates Congress of the party.

The new Chairman of the party stated that their defeat is not one in actual sense but an indication that the party needs them to serve in other capacities. He promised that all human resource deployment to be made by his administration will definitely include these candidates, who only missed out on securing the votes of delegates.
