Energy Minister Extends Working Visit to PHDC

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, the Honorable Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a visit to the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC)

as part of his ongoing familiarization tour of agencies under his ministry.

The minister has recently embarked on a working tour to the agencies in the energy sector. He has so far visited several agencies including Tems Oil Refinery (TOR), National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), etc. to ascertain first-hand information about the happenings at these respective agencies.

As a result, he has this time round, extended the visit to the PHDC, one of the newest institutions within Ghana’s petroleum sector.

During his engagement with the management and staff of the PHDC, the Minister underscored the Corporation’s core mandate, which is to “attract substantial investment into the petroleum value chain; an essential pillar in securing Ghana’s energy future.”

This strategic focus underlines the critical role the PHDC plays in shaping the country’s energy landscape.

The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation was established with the aim of transforming Ghana into a regional petroleum hub, attracting investments and driving industrial development within the petroleum value chain.

As a key player in the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition’s portfolio, the PHDC is poised to contribute significantly to the country’s broader economic growth.

The Minister also emphasized the need for the PHDC team to adopt “strategic and innovative approaches in executing their responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on putting the national interest first.”

This call for strategic vision and innovative thinking underscores the government’s commitment to positioning the Petroleum Hub as a competitive destination for global investment.

In his address to the PHDC staff, the Minister “reminded them of the importance of maintaining professionalism, avoiding partisan conduct, and embracing dedication and innovation, key qualities for positioning the Hub as a competitive destination for global investment.”

This focus on nurturing a culture of professionalism and innovation is crucial for the success of the PHDC’s endeavors.

The Minister’s visit to the PHDC also served as an opportunity to “reaffirm the Ministry’s full support for the Corporation as it works to drive industrial development and contribute to broader economic growth.”
