Stephen Ntim,

Stephen Ntim,

The National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Stephen Ntim, has assured the Greater Accra Regional Council of Elders of the party and the entire party that the leadership of the NPP will ensure a free-and-fair primaries to elect a flagbearer, to lead the party into the 2024 General Elections.

Speaking at a brainstorming session by the Council of Elders of the Greater Accra Region at Peduase; in Aburi, the Chairman stated, that even though the party is yet to set a date for the congress to elect its flagbearer and parliamentary candidates, the national executives are already making vigorous preparation to ensure a free, fair, clean and successful primaries.

Mr. Stephen Ntim commended the Regional Council of Elders for the organization of a retreat as such, for setting up that pace and also advised that other organs of the party would emulate such strategies.

Responding to concerns by some members of the Council on those flouting the code of conduct as they have commenced their campaigns, the Chairman was emphatic that the code of ethics is still in force and thus urged prospective aspirants to abide by the ethics.

He made a passionate appeal to all prospective aspirants, their supporters, party members and all stakeholders of the Party to respect the rules of engagement and they should always be guided by the supreme interest of the party and eschew all acts that have the tendency of dividing their ranks.

Thus, they cannot have an effective and well-organized party to break the eight if they do not prioritize the party’s interest because victory in 2024, will largely depend on how they conduct themselves in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries; before, during and after the elections.

Chairman’s Statement

The National Chairman of the NPP, informed those present that the choice of the theme for the occasion: “Effective Party Organization To Break The Eight” was spot on and worthy of commendation. He spoke that there could not have been a better theme, looking at the times the party finds itself in and that the party seeks to do something no other political party has accomplished in the political history of the country; thus; it seeks to win a third consecutive general election and break the eight that has eluded the two major parties.

He claimed that in order to achieve such a feat, there is no need to repeat themselves in what they have been doing since 1992, but they must be conscious of the enormity of the task ahead of them and be able to work their hearts towards its realization.

Mr. Ntim, reminded all present, that they began by appointing hardworking party members to serve as deputy national officers, directors at the national secretariat and as members of the various committees of the Party, to help effectively deliver on their mandate. He also made mention that they can only be successful on this mandate if they get the support and cooperation of the members of the Party.

“As members of the council of elders, the wisdom and advice you offer us is so crucial to help us effectively organize and manage the party. This is crucial in winning the 2024 general elections. With your continuous support thus far, I am happy to report that the NPP is the most organized political party in Ghana.

“In respect of the current state of the NPP as evidence of our level of preparedness for the 2024 general elections, l can say confidently that, building on the hard work started by the previous administration, we continue to be the most vibrant and the leading political party in Ghana.”

Stephen Ntim

He spoke on the negative impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic on political parties but pat himself on the back, because he claimed the NPP was the first to organize conferences, elect national, regional, constituency and polling station executives in over 38,000 polling stations in the country. He also made emphasis that all these feats, can certainly, only be achieved by a well-organized political party that is well prepared to go into the 2024 general elections and win by the grace of God.

The National Chairman of the NPP, reported of the party’s current engagement with stakeholders in order to come forth with a timetable for the conduct of the Party’s Parliamentary and Presidential primaries. He reiterated the point that, as national officers of the Party, not only are they going to be impartial, but will also ensure a leveled playing field for all prospective aspirants in the conduct of both the parliamentary and presidential primaries.

“We admonish supporters of would-be aspirants and members of the party to refrain from the use of provocative language in the lead up to the party’s primaries. We should all remember that we remain the sons and daughters from the womb of one giant elephant.

“This is the only party we have. We should remind ourselves of the very reason for our existence as a political party which finds expression in Article 2(3) of the Party’s Constitution. Long Live The NPP, Long Live Ghana, Kukrudu! Kukrudu!”
