Sarkodie and Jupitar

Jupitar, a Ghanaian Dancehall musician, has described his smooth working relationship with rapper Sarkodie and how their collaboration gave birth to his 2017 hit ‘Enemies’.

In an interview, Jupitar described his song ‘Enemies’ which featured Sarkodie, as a global hit.

According to the Dancehall musician, their collaboration was birthed after Sarkodie’s 2015 single ‘Whine For Me’, which featured himself and Stonebwoy.

He told in the interview that;

“For Sarkodie, I have never had any issues featuring him. He was the one who first featured me on a song with Stonebwoy. In return, I asked him to do a song for me which was global. He is also on my album. Featuring Sarkodie has never been a problem”.

Also, commenting on the allegations leveled against Sarkodie by his colleagues who claim that the rapper drags his feet anytime they request a feature, Jupitar hammered that it hasn’t been his case.

“Samini and Sarkodie should thrash their issues”.

He further added saying;

“One thing about me, I don’t really push myself to artiste when it comes to collaborations. Maybe I might try once when we meet in the studio because you know Ghanaians… For me, I wouldn’t even send it for you to know”.

Jupitar

He was then asked if he had experienced where he sends a message to an artiste if they could do a collaboration and they never got back to him.

I sometimes submit my works for awards but they ignore it

The dancehall artiste, Jupitar said that certain award schemes disregard him when he sends his tracks for consideration noting that this has been going on for years.

Speaking in an interview, the artiste mentioned that no matter what he does to promote himself, some people with ulterior motives disparage his creations.

He said;

“In our award schemes, sometimes I submit my work and they ignore it. Where I am coming from is not last year or two years ago. There is a root to it where it started ten years ago, and you know that you’re doing a good job, but there are a couple of people who have made up their mind that irrespective of how good you are, irrespective of how excellent you are, or whatever you’re doing.

“No matter how good you play, or do, or how excellent your teamwork is, they are going to sideline you, and this sidelining thing is one of the major factors that is bringing down our music industry”.

Jupitar

Additionally, he stated that there are a lot of artists who could come out and speak for themselves while noting that he was going to speak up from now on against those who obstruct his works until it changes.

He said;

“There are a lot of artists who can come out and say what I am saying now or advocate for what I am doing now. Honestly speaking, I think it’s time, and I am going to go and be a notorious advocate until this type of thing changes, and when it changes, it’s going to be best for all of us, the artistes you know.

“It’s time we upgrade our game and become very successful industry in Africa and across the globe”.

Jupitar

The reggae-dancehall artist also explained the lack of support, contempt, and rejection he has experienced in the entertainment industry.

He added that despite sharing the same stage with other Ghanaian musicians, he does not receive the same level of appreciation from Ghanaians as compared to the other artists.
