Eric Pienaa, the Director of Elections of the Techiman South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised various aspirants contesting the parliamentary seat, to remain decorous in their political campaigns to deepen the unity in the party.

“We must see each other as one and form a formidable force to be able to capture the constituency seat.”

Eric Pienaa

Eric Pienaa, said that politics was about numbers, and asked the aspirants and their followers to guard against tendencies that could “tear the party apart and scatter our members and supporters.”

“We are marching forward to the Jubilee House in the election 2024 and we must concentrate and avoid divisive tendencies that can narrow our political fortunes.”

Eric Pienaa

He claimed unity and togetherness would greatly make the NDC more attractive and thereby, enhance the party’s support base for victory in 2024.

On the party’s impending primaries in the constituency, Eric Pienaa said aspirants were expected to submit their nomination forms on March 22, 2023. Though he could not immediately provide statistics on the number of aspirants who had picked nominations so far, Eric Pienaa, said Christopher Beeyerer Baasongti’s 2020 parliamentary candidate had notified the directorate to pick forms and contest again.

Other aspirants who had also notified the directorate include Kwaku Adjei-Mensah, a former Member of Parliament (2012-2016), he added.

“The NDC is supreme, and we must allow the interest of the party to override our selfish political ambitions.”

Eric Pienaa

Sullemana Dramani, a Constituency Chairman, also advised supporters of the aspirants to conduct a clean campaign and avoid using insulting words as that would not help the party.

He said, while the supporters had the right to project their preferred candidate, this right did not give them the authority to use harsh words on other candidates.

He therefore asked them to desist from defamation and open insults and to continue to be one, before, during and after the election. He claimed that whoever emerged victorious after the primaries, would need all the losers on board to win the 2024 elections.

More Aspirants Join The NDC Primary Race

Four people have picked up nomination forms to contest the parliamentary slot, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Krachi East Constituency of the Oti Region.

The aspirants are the incumbent MP; Wisdom Gidisu, Kaledzi Mawuli; Building engineer and oil marketer, Henry Sarfo Asamani-Yiadom; Businessman, and Nelson Kofi Djaba; Businessman.

Two persons have picked nomination forms to contest the Asante Akim North parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). They are Adams Yusif, a Lawyer and Kofi Asamoah, a businessman. Adams Yusif contested the 2020 elections but lost to Andy Appiah Kubi, the NPP candidate.

Peter Abaje, the Asante Akim North constituency chairman of the NDC said, the two were the only persons who had picked forms for the constituency. He stressed the need for all interested candidates to follow the laid down procedures of the party and work to promote peace among party members and supporters in the constituency.

Abaje said strong party unity and hard work among all the members, were crucial to capture the seat and winning the Presidential ticket as well.

Meanwhile, four persons have picked the nominations forms to contest the Atwima-Nwabiagya South constituency primaries of the NDC. They are Nana Asare Bediako; former Municipal Chief Executive under President Mahama, Wisdom Osei Boateng; former constituency youth organizer, Derrick Owusu Boateng; the 2020 parliamentary candidate of the party and Salisu Mohammed; a businessman.

Godfred Petigo, the constituency Secretary, who confirmed this to the GNA, said the constituency leadership was following all the laid down procedures to ensure fairness in the processes. He appealed to supporters of the nominees to remain calm and go about their campaigns peacefully to help strengthen the existing unity in the party.
