Ghanaian-UK-based afrobeat producer and artist Lexis Drogo has disclosed that the most difficult thing about being a musician is the mental aspect of creating and coming up with words that everyone can relate to.

In an interview, Lexis Drogo said the most beautiful thing about being a musician is the mental aspect of creating and coming up with words that everyone can relate to and putting out something that really expresses how one truly feels.

The afrobeat producer said:

“Well, you will be making music without substance, like you can feel there’s nothing deep in there”.

He further said that it’s always not necessary that artists’ music should be related to someone but should at least have an authentic feeling involved especially from the artist.

Lexis Drogo said his biggest career highlight so far as a producer is working with both Kelvyn Boy and Camidoh and having them on a song as well.

He added that it was inspiring which then lead him to start doing his own stuff and recording as well.

The musical artist has produced some songs which includes Kelvyn Boy’s ‘Killa Killa’, Amerado’s ‘Lockoff’, and Twitch 4eva ft Medikal’s ‘Cool Your Temper’.

Also, he has got songs with Wendy Shay and Larusso.

During the interview, he revealed that he would like to collaborate with Burna Boy alongside Kwesi Arthur.

He said:

“I would love to collaborate with Burna Boy soon because we’re both sorts of the same fruit. The vibrance and uniqueness he brings are what I feel we can both bring something special out.

“Kwesi Arthur would be wonderful. I’ve worked with him as a producer but not as an artist now”.

“Where we live does a lot because as an artist, we soak up everything around us and it influences everything around us and it also influences everything we put out. Everything around us has a frequent effect that we artists in a community tend to bounce out of and put out there.

“That’s why you hear things like… He has the ‘Ampiano’ sound (from South Africa), or you hear he has that ‘Asaka’ style because you can tell they’re from Kumasi or influenced by Kumasi style”.

Lexis Drogo said that he personally, especially, when it comes to balancing and maintaining his privacy as a public eye, his neighborhood is predominantly white and they are not into his sound. Still, in Ghana, Tema, he obviously has to be discreet a bit.

During the interview, the artist made known his intentions by making the whites to be into his sound since that’s where he lives now.

He said:

“It’s much better than before. Now they have a bit as my songs have been played on our local BBC radio, but still, because they have their own taste, I guess it will take time before they catch into the afrobeat vibe”.

He added that the genre of music is also a factor when it comes to music.
